Hello, I am Kumar from India, I have been getting a lot of help from forum members as I am trying to put my vintage layout 1955- 1970 back on track. The CM Locomotive I used mainly to test track, signals etc. Now the lights work and the loco does move, but not smoothly. Without power the wheels cannot be rotated smoothly and some times not at all. I have tried to lubricate the geared wheels and crank with singer seweing machine oil and that loosens the wheels and crank for some time but after some time it gets jammed again. Would you recommend I open the engine and clean everything with Alcohol spirit 99%. Please help. Kumar

Never try to turn the wheels manually. The wheels can slip on the axles causing them to be loose. Sounds like you should disassemble the motor and clean everything with alcohol or lighter fluid then lightly oil on reassembly. Youtube has lots of vids on the subject. ?si=TqSudyMnZPZiHov_ Good luck, Mikey |
