When you say 'printed' I assume you mean 'painted'. I don't believe they use MDF, rather thin wood as used to make plywood, which is then laser cut and painted. so on purchasing the kit it should build up in the colour illustrated.

You can weather these if desired using paint pigments or pastels. I haven't tried using paints but haven't needed to since the advantage of these is the nice flat colour finish and the glue doesn't stain, unlike your standard shiny plastic kits glued with solvent.

Nice models Johnathan.

Kind of out of reach for most of us however. In truth they are art, rather than craft IMO.

Thanks for posting those - they are a joy to behold.

Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

The buildings are just architectural marketing models. The hardest thing building them is when the architect gives you crap drawings (full of mistakes) & it takes so much longer to build it.

The building at the top of the tread with 3 roofs is not difficult. It's all straight surfaces. The dark lines, just spray strips & stick them on after. Easier than trying to mask for painting. Roofs paint separately.

The windows are not difficult, just tedious. I would score grooves on to polycarbonate (one whole elevation at a time, which then is behind the wall) & rub kids acrylic paint in, but one could build them up out of strips. Cut a square hole in a piece of cardboard as jig for an overall frame, then fit pieces within. Paint, then stick on the building.
