a worthwhile steam loco would be the Austrian Rh 12.10 series, a heavy freight loco, configuration 2'8'4', top speed 154km/h

Same story here, been wanting the 37202 forever, found 2 a couple a years ago, and now they rereleased it :). I do see from the picture that the headlights are still wrong (pure glas, no red border, original topic: here)? While they adjusted it for the 37202 later on, you would have guessed they have it good now for this one.

I didn't pick up on the smoke, and my German isn't good enough to quickly decipher how many wagons are in the coal hopper set.

Twelve wagons in the hopper set. The UP diesel really looks sensational. BigGrin

and Trix has a 6 car add-on set, with different numbers. 24903

Edit: fixed the 24903 link, which did not work due to a forum bug.

One interesting fact about the steamers BR 01 10 and the new BR 44 Tub Style tender is that they have a close coupling mechanism with guide between the machine and the tender.
I will not probably buy any of these 2, but it is a good move from Märklin. I really didn't like the 2 positions for the tender-machine distance some of the latest steamers have, including the BR 06.

About the new items, I like the Edelweiss and the Series 13 locomotive. I would prefer the American diesels to be weathered.
I also like the Insider cars and the InterRegio cars but they are not cheap.

Miguel

I will go for the 42470 Edelweiss set too,i think is the best of the catalog,so i have to make a good plan.

Other than the Museumswagen and Insiderwagen (which I’ve been purchasing for many years), I didn’t see anything that strikes me as a “must have.” The Dutch retro lok looks nice — I don’t have an original — but I wish they would have offered a different set of wagons to go with it. Looks as though I’ll be saving money this year ;)

From the Trix NI, the Trix version of the Museum Wagon has a different road number to the Marklin one. The same is not stated in the Marklin NI - which has often been the case for many years.

The Oil Train tankers to go with the Taiga Trommel seem to have different road numbers between the Trix and Marklin sets, although it is not stated anywhere in the English publications - why else would they explicitly show both sets in the footer picture with the Taiga Trommel? Blink

I think I like the Trix Profi Club wagon more than the Marklin Insider wagon.

Not all of the Trix locos have Railcom fitted, for some reason I haven't yet worked out some locos miss out.

I also noted (as posted above) that there are an extra 6 Union Pacific hoppers in the Trix range with different road numbers to the Marklin ones - why didn't they make it a set of twelve to match the Marklin set? Confused Confused

The WLAN ms2 only comes as a Marklin unit when shown in the LGB and Trix brochures - so you cannot get one labelled as a Trix unit with a green knob, like you can with the wired ms2.

LGB have gone all out with two versions of the P42 diesel to celebrate 50 years of Amtrak, one is in a special livery for the occasion, along with a set of coaches.

It is going to take some thunking before I make my mind up about what I purchase, but I think there are a couple of 'must haves'.

I think the difference between the 29243 start set issued in 2022, and the 29244 announced here is the loco comes fitted with a smoke unit.

and they have released a new black 100 VA power pack 60151. I kind of expected an updated 60101 a couple of years ago.

The picture used on the märklin pages shows a 15-19v switch, but it is not mentioned in the description.........

It was also on Instagram! I finally got to sit down and look at the new items. It's nice they are doing a heritage set and loco. in tinplate/cast metal. Keeps the classic Marklin shorter car and metal history alive.
The br 218 has a newly developed sound project. I wonder how it will sound? Some complained of the recent ones, although, with subtle volume, and braking threshold cv adjustments, my 39187 is better, and doesn't drown out my Roco with both running.
The U.P. GE diesel is interesting, and a first for M.
Some beautiful and different models for sure.

The title is "240 Volt Switched Mode Power Pack", but the description reads "Input 120 volts / 60 Hertz / output 19 volts / 100 watts DC voltage". The usual level of quality assurance.

No manual yet. Everything will be clear as mud when we can download the manual.

Yeah, I was surprised it didn't have the full voltage range - as you say quality control needs some quality control.

a guess is that it is something similar to the 50 VA models and it accepts both 120 volts and 240 volts, so they only need to change the plug in different markets.

So with MiniTrix (the N scalers) getting new tracks in concrete sleepers.... at what point might HO scale get some modern track I wonder. They have to be reviewing it on an annual basis and planning some production run some day. You really do need 2: wooden and concrete.

Maybe we get an Australian liveried loco sometime.

You would have to also add in the tablet/phone $ to use with the Z21 for proper comparison, which would give you a better user interface, than the WiFi MS depending on ones preferences for virtual vs physical controls.

That was my reaction too, while those locos may well have hauled that livery coach in the day, they just don't look right.

I suspect there will be many people buy the coach set to run with something else.

I've just ordered the retro Dutch lok to go with the wagons I have that Maerklin cataloged with it as a set in the 1950s -- at least it will look a little better than the ones offered.

Can you point out the catalog number of the coaches you plan to pair with the NS loco?
I have an original 3013 NS 1100 in a red box with wooden block spacers. Quite fond of the old boy. Solid metal and weighs a good bit for a little lok. And an early NS 1200 (no modern logo) but for both sadly only a few gondolas to go with them. No passenger cars. Not even sure of the numbers of the old tin plate coaches. I will have to look them up.

I would never have guessed that Märklin would offer the Edelweiß coach set that I have been wanting since I bought my SNCF 241.

Now the 42470 parlor car set is announced and they are beautiful, although expensive.

I also want those UP GE diesel locos and both hopper car sets, for a grand total of almost $2,300 USD from my preferred dealer.

Do I really need to eat every day? BigGrin
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

Hi Mark,

Page 12 of the 1956 catalog shows the lok as an SEH 800. It appears again as a set (SEH 346/3 J) on page18 with an express coach 346/1, dining car 346/2 J and luggage van/baggage 346/4. In 1957, under the new numbering, the lok carried the catalog number 3013 (page 13), and the set (3113) contained the same wagons, now numbered 4006, 4009, and 4012 respectively.

Unfortunately, I can't post photos at the moment.

MRR always was a hobby you had to spend money.

Agreed. The LHS I frequent, I often observe guys coming in and fussing about used HO rolling stock prices. Anywhere from $2.00 to $10.00 USD. Honest, I’m not an elitist but if you fuss about that small amount maybe this isn’t the hobby for you. I also dabble in Lionel O gauge and that can be pricey as well.

Thank you Steve,

Ok yes it may be SEH 800. I would have to get the box out again in my cluttered train room/studio (Desperately waiting for the big Vroom! This month before spring gardening...)
Its been about 5 years since I ran the old boy! Scared.

I will have to scavenge the internet when my MMR bank fills up again and get those coaches. Essential for the Era 3 Dutch portion of my layout.

Also seem to have lost the catalog downloads which must be on another PC in order to look it up. Sadly downloads are no longer available online. I think it would be to Marklin's advantage to have all the old catalogs available for download in the highest quality possible. So many public archives and museum collections have made their records copyright free. In Marklin's case it's to their advantage to promote the brand and hobby. When you hold an apple too tight in your hand it turns to mush. Pricing themselves out of the market would be an unhappy future.

Cheers
Mark

In 1957, under the new numbering, the lok carried the catalog number 3013 (page 13), and the set (3113) contained the same wagons, now numbered 4006, 4009, and 4012 respectively.

Unfortunately, I can't post photos at the moment.

In single point perspective, where do track lines meet?

I also want those UP GE diesel locos and both hopper car sets, for a grand total of almost $2,300 USD from my preferred dealer.

We are watching exactly the same items. Both we are going to be thin and elegant for sure.LOL

Ask them - this is not the place to ask such a question as we have no idea. They haven't put all the new items on the site yet.

They are not usually the first to have the new items priced available for pre-orders, but usually in few days they have them.
I am sure they will have those items available for pre-order. The only items they usually don't sell are MHI, at least I never saw them selling MHI items.

Miguel

They stepped out of MHI to avoid being thrown out. They were MHI member, but grew too big.

Hello Steve,

It is rather funny how money takes on a strange value at certain times.
I know my wife has a caniption every time tomatoes go from $3.99 per kg to $4.49.
It is as though the sky is falling in.
No complaints when they go back down.

And if I find a $1 coin on the lounge room floor there is an almighty row about who really lost/owns it!!

I was selling a model at a buy-and-sell once, and this guy explained that it was just what he needed, would fit perfectly with his layout, the colours were right etc. etc
But then he wanted to give me $15 for it instead of the asked $20.
????

Maybe time to rename this thread. The "time to guess" is over and the "time to discuss" has come.

Done!

USA Modellers rejoice - ES44AC in Union Pacific colours and two road numbers, along with a string of coal hoppers.

I think the USA modelers (myself included) have been waiting for this forever! Drool
Any guess as to whether these will run on R3?

I never expected to see any Märklin US diesels except the F7s powered by DCMs. These look like very nice locos with a lot of great features! ThumpUp

It is strange that Märklin does not give a minimum radius for these, but I don't see why they wouldn't run on any radius, down to R1. My Alco PAs do and they have three axle trucks like these. Three or more driven axles on a steamer can be a challenge but on a diesel or electric they should be fine.
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

Some years ago i run a friend's MTH ES44 locomotive to my layout. The two oil tanks thore are left and right of the loco hitting the lanterns of the turnouts when the locomotive running left or right on the turnouts,no problem when the loco running on straight line.I do know what is going to happen with marklins ES44 but if there is the same problem i will not passing the locomotive via turnouts.
