Confused
I have a medium complex analogue M-Track layout. trying to set up automatic locomotive control with 7039/7041 semaphore signals with 5146/5147 switch tracks - HOWEVER - i still want to use 7072 control boxes for manual override of the 7039/7041 when desired (ie. when i wish to be able to manually restore power to a prescribed dead-zone thrown by 5146/5147 when a train doesn't cross over the far 5146/5147 switching track to 'clear' it.)

- question: can the 7039/7041 be set up to use both the switching tracks AND control boxes simultaneously?

Thanks - David

I don't see any reason why this would not be possible. Just add branching wires from the red and green control wires to a switchbox, in addition to the wires going to the switch tracks. The semaphores do not care how they get the control signal, or whether there are multiple sources for it.

I am trying to do the same thing, but the problem is that I can turn Signal #2 to green with a control box and it will also turn signal #1 red.

I need to control only a single signal with a control box position. Since I am using circuit tracks, any input from a control box activates the signal behind it.

I tried a 4001 diode with no luck. Am I over driving the diode with analog power?

Thanks

Rick

Have you considered using 7045 (the remote switch) to break the circuit to the signal you don't want to change?

No overdrive, but you need 2 diodes!
-One coming from the 7072 and the other from the track-contact. Both going to the signal.
That is per solenoid, so you would need 4 diodes, if you want to control both red AND green from both the 7072 AND 2 contact-tracks.

Add a power feeder track to the blocked section that becomes live (interrupting red wire) when turning on using push-button switch (permanent type, like 7210 switch; not pulse type).
Later adddition: you should only use the switch for track power (red wire; can be 0V); not to share with accessories permanent power (yellow wire).

Digital M (+ some K) track layout with mostly vintage rolling stock and accessories, and small Z scale layout.

Hi Henrik, in this very crude diagram, where exactly and what direction do I insert the diodes? Electronics are my weakness! BigGrin

Thanks

Rick
