Märklin CS2 - Problem with maxspeed

Hi ,

My friend has a problem with min and max speed in CS2.
He is not able to adjust and limit the min and max speed in the configuration of CS2.
I have a CS3 myself , and with this it is no problem and has never been.

Even if he set the max speed to about 10 , the train does not react at all , and is rushing with full speed out of control.
He can do adjustments of a train with MFX decoder (but without any results as I said).
But with a train with MM2 decoder , it is not possible while min and max speed is not avaiable to adjust. ( the have a grey showing)

Can the problem be in CS2 or is it related to the decoders of the trains ?

I will as next step try with one of my own train on his railway.

Sorry in advance for the things you know already.
Having both a CS2 and a CS3, handling of min and max speed is very similar.
On MFX decoders, changes ("editing") can be done ONLY on the programming track.
So, maybe, just maybe, this comes from the decoder or its incorrect placement (on main track). I think only mSD2, mLD2, mSD3 and mSD3 and their Märklin-installed equivalents can be ajusted but all MFX can.

NOTE: minimum speed is to protect motors. It should be set so that even at lowest driving speed the loco is not stuck.
I learned the hard way that otherwise you can burn the motor with, in turn can burn the decoder.
In my case min speed is 3 and above except on SDS locos where there is zero risk.

If the decoders are the type that have switches or solder jumpers to set the address then no, there is no adjustment by using the cs2 or cs3. The only variation to this is the 6090x series decoders that have tiny adjustment potentiometers that adjust maximum speed and acceleration rate. You need to take the loco body off to adjust these.

Later fx decoders that do not have address switches MAY be adjustable, but I have no info on that. The best I can suggest is to look at the manual for the 60760 decoders to see what may be adjustable.
