would like to know if connecting Marklin M track points to a Marklin k83 and then connecting it to the eCoS is possible, then to be able to set up the ecos to be able to use the points. or is there a need for the points to still be connected to a Marklin blue push button unit(7072). hope to gain some insight to this with the hope of purchasing mopre k83 units. tthank you in advance. Peter Noob to when it comes to these sort f problems.

Yep.. But you need to use the icon on the eCOs screen to change the points direction or use the track diagram - if you have one set up on your eCOS. The old push button thing is not needed if you use a K83..
There are instructions in the eCos manual on how to set up this. I will look later and post them up here for you..

The k83 does not directly connect to the eCOS. It connects to the track power.. The other connections are the two blue wires and the yellow wire... This image, found elsewhere on the forum shows the wring.. The blue and the yellow are done like you would normally wire the push button switch, while the red and brown are just track power.. |

Ok so a quick look at this is that my understanding of the use of the k83, is simply plug in the M track point, set the correct location or digital number( here i am confuddled) then run the wires from the k83 to the to the 72090 then the red wire and the brown wire run from the 72090 to the green eCoS Plug as per normal and set up the eCoS to run the M track points from the eCoS. Fingers crossed i have this correct.

Yep.. The wiring part is easy.
The K83 instructions show you how to set the address by the dip switch.. This is the address you use in the ecos on the turnout icon. (Page 23 stuff)
There are may variants of the K83. Which one do you have? |
