Would anyone have a recommendation of 2-pole current conducting couplers for NEM pockets? I’ve found e.g. ESU, Piko and Viessmann offerings, but no recent review of them. I will not decouple the car sets very often, if any input. |

I have used both the ESU and Viessmann units, of the two I intend to continue using the ESU ones. They can couple to a normal marklin close coupler or the Roco couplers without and problem, have two poles and a higher current rating than the Viessmann, so this enables more coaches to be powere from one pickup shoe etc....

I'm curious here. I imagine you have to feed the power from these individually in each coach via bridge rectifiers, as you cant guarantee polarity. I have done he same, using single pole current conducting couplers, and made up my own earthing circuits via the wheels. Cost is far considerably less, especially when I converted my Marklin close couplers to current conducting ones. Shortly I will ad a thread here showing the result.

The prices I've mentioned are only guidelines to give the person an idea what they are worth., you have to remember which wire is which so you don't mix them up and the best way to do this is with a multi meter, the benefit having a 2 pin electrical coupler, you don't need a pick up shoe which allows you to install a led strip with a resistor., if you intend to have separate lighting arrangements in your carriage it would be advisable to use a 4 pin electrical coupling whereas you can use Aux 1 for some of your interior lights and Aux 2 for toilet lights, entrance and some of the interior lights

I find it does not matter which wire you connect to another light bar. |
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer. |
