Marklin starter set, do they still produce it?

I already have some H0 digital material and now I was planning to approach the gauge 1, but I have realized that it is impossible to find anywhere a starter set, including the official Marklin site. Are they planning to commercialise any starter set in the near future? Would you suggest to buy the individual railtrack, wagon and locomotive instead? Regards

On ebay.de there is one for sale here https://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_...Marklin+spur1+starterset I assume Märklin stopped because of the slow sales caused by a high price and people might prefer to buy one item at a time. Some awesome starter sets were released in the Maxi range, they are fully Gauge 1 compatible, but are predominently tin-plate rather than plastic, slightly more 'rustic' looking but still great trains and you might find something appealing. I have also checked the “maxi” set but personally I would prefer something with more details with more realism, also because I dont have much space so I will only buy few items I really like. Thanks also for the suggestion to only buy sets starting with 55. I don’t understand though why some loco have a set number with 4 digits (like the E91 5517) while others have a 5 digit numbers?? I do have a z21 which I use with my H0 set up, do you think I can also use it with the gauge 1 set?

Märklin started to change from 4 to 5 digits around 20 years ago. As a very general rule, the 4 digit versions are analog, and either have no sound, or a very primitive sound; while the 5 digit versions are digital with much better sound. More important is still that the 57xx models have the old AC-type motor, which is "hard" to make digital, and still is very noisy; while the 55xx and 55xxx models have a DC motor, so even if you find an analog model, it's very easy to make it digital. There was also a Glaskasten in the Maxi range that looked more suited to the standard G1 range.
