I am working on a two circuit layout with goods yard and lok depot all except the lok depot with cantenary.

Each circuit is run from independent transformers as do the cantenary and the goods and lok depot.

Each main circuit has two hidden sidings to store trains off the main circuit.

Each circuit has four blocks controlled by a mix of old 5104 or 5105 contact/switching rails or 5146/5147/5213- both have disadvantages as the 5100 series remain in contact with the signal as long as the whole train is going over it but are at least reliable. the 5146 series with plastic cams, avoid the long train problem, but have a tendency to stick and so are unsuitable for hidden areas.

So far I have not succeeded with getting the geometry- placing of the contact rails - right as some locos are faster than some. Marklin seems to have discovered this problem and in their Model Signal Book 0341 suggest installing the 4025 universal remote control on each block. I am now sourcing 4025s but the handbook is not very clear how to include the catenary block signals.do I need another 4025 for each cantenary block?

If anyone has experience of setting up this sort of system, I would be grateful for advice!

Please don't suggest going digital!! this layout's purpose is to display pure old analog from 1938 to 1960. The digital layout is a seperate project!

I look forward to hearing from you!

David

I have used the 7045 universal relays in several analog designs, although not in the specific way described in the 341 book.

Nevertheless, I believe that the proposed design needs one 7045 for each signal and block. Signals control track power both in the rails and in the catenary, so the blocks in rails and catenary are the same. Just one 7045 is needed.

I'm a bit confused, 7045 I know and understand that it may be the same as 7245 (??) but what is 4025?

Just to mention I made an error when making blocks on my layout, in one section the catenary and track blocks are the same, the result is that the carriage lights go out when the train stops. (catenary power for loco, track power for carriage lighting)

Of course the lighting pick ups on carriages make switching via 5146 more, shall we say, confusing!

All part of the fun.

Silly me written in haste I meant to but 7045 not 4025 !! 7245 is a later version brought it at about same time as K track, but it is not evident from what I can find out how you would use them rather than the simper 7025s . Thanks for advice, I will let you know how I get on!

Regards

Maybe 4025 is a component of God's Wonderful Railway?

Hi David

May be this will help you
0340Signalbook EN.pdf (5,626kb) downloaded 47 time(s).
This is a signal book suited for M track. How to wire it, etc
I hope this helps
Jean

Thanks Jean, that is clearer on the wiring of the remote control than in the original old book. Interestingly the original German language version did not include this section at all - maybe I have a very old version !
