Looking forward to the first R1 radius tests!

Edit: never mind. I rechecked the online user manual, and there it states a minimum radius of 360mm/R1. There is only a warning about it being a large model and that you carefully need check whether it fits. I wonder why they then specify minimum R2 in the announcements in the first place?

In the mean time, my dad's 39480 loco arrived so I was able to see it run around R1 turns for myself. Hard to see where it is incompatible with R1 loading gauge, if at all. I have the impression that standard long coaches stick out more in curves on both sides, so it must be something very subtle.

It has a very nice american-style whistle (which is absolutely correct afaik). Was not able to test all the sounds because the Ecos2 from my dad needs to be updated to support more than 16 functions.

The reason is that some of the older R1 M-Track turnouts use out of scale lanterns that might interfere with smooth operation. Also the R1 curved bridge section can be a problem unless there are transition curves preceding them. Then of course, there are always misplaced catenary masts and signals that are potential problems as well.Blink

Available in France!

No problem on R1. It’s made for (just read the manual if you’re not convinced ...)

Hi,

I received mine recently, and out of the box the front and rear bogies would derail on all of my C track turnouts at any speed. So off to the workbench it went, I remove the front and rear bogies and adjusted the springs for more downward spring pressure. Now it runs like a champ on all of my turn outs at any speed. Shouldn't have to do this on a brand new loco, such as it is with Maerklin these days.
Very nice loco, now I need to find an appropriate coach set as I declined the M2 coach set.
Best Regards,
Don
