I have received an old Maerklin loco 3451 with delta decoder which contains dip switch of 4 switched.
Can somebody tell me how I make this loco run with MS2?

Easy, just select a setting like for instance "78" with those dip switches. Take a look at this thread: https://www.marklin-users.net/fo...n-using-Delta#post164589 and also this table: http://www.pallund.dk/deltaadd.htm

Thanks Unholz.
I have tried to set the switches to "78" (SW #1 ON and the other 3 switches - OFF) and nothing happened. May be I made a mistake in setting up the MS2.
Is there a detailed instructions document that describes the sequence of actions I should take to set up my loco?

On the MS2 just select the loco from the database.

Go to "New Loco" and select "From Database". Then you have to scroll through until you find 3450. Your Loco, 3451, doesn't appear on the database on my MS2, but 3450 is the same type of loco.

Once you've created an entry for the loco check on the address settings. Select "Change Loco" and "Address". You'll find that the default is 24.

Go back to your decoder DIP switches and change them for address 24.

Your loco should then run when you select the 3450 loco on your MS2.

Thank you RayF,

I followed your instructions, changed the code on the decoder to 24 and it works. I manage to control the loco's speed but unfortunately I could not control lights. Does this loco have such a function or any other function?
Where can I find a "data sheet" of this loco (3451)?

Hello (Shalom) Yossi,

The Delta Re 460 (3460) is the base model. 3450, 3451, etc were special livery models of this locomotive.
The delta unit allows you to select one of four available addresses to control the locomotive. This locomotive has no additional functions. The lights will come on as the voltage on the transformer increases (in analog) and in digital, they will be on at all times.

If you are running digital, you might consider buying one of the upgrade kits and converting your model to a more current mfx decoder.

I don't think that there was a default address for Delta locomotives. They were delivered set to analog and the user could select any one of the available addresses (Delta 1 to 4) which correspond to digital addresses 24, 60, 72 or 78.

To upgrade, you will likely want to convert the motor to 5 pole and change the magnet in addition to installing either a MFX or Loksound type decoder (if you want sound).

Here are the instructions on eBay:

Regards
