I am looking for the screw specs for the 7072 control boxes. I can't tell what size they are. A #2 is way too big. Is it a #1 or #0 size thread? I am looking to mount some old 7072 control boxes to wood but don't have the longer screws which go through the control boxes into the wood. I believe the length is ~1" or 25 mm.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Gary

Hi Gary,

The screws are 2*25mm. If you can't get them elsewhere, Märklin sells them as E786240.

Point of clarification - that would be 2mm*25mm not a #2*25mm.
A #2 is 2.184mm.

I figured that. I was locking at #2 wood screws at the hardware store and thinking that the dia. was rather large.

Until you get the correct screws try double sided tape as a temporary solution.

I have not been able to find a store in North America which has these screws. Can anyone lend a hand in locating a supplier?

Hello Gary

of course in Europe you get the screws easily. 2 links

http://bwbahn.com/Schraube-Linse-E786240

https://picclick.de/M%C3...-LINSE-291867340908.html

even you get it at the Maerklin shop.

https://www.maerklinshop...chraube-senk-linse-10-st

But be aware about the transportation costs. Most of them suck you. This article is really neither heay nor big, it could be send in a "Versandtasche" (Jiffy bag?) starting at 3,70 € from Germany to the USA.

bwbahn is charging you equivalent to the goods you bought, .e.g up to 50 € they want 12,50 € as delivery charges. So you always have to optimze an order.Smile

A calculator for delivery charges from Germany to the USA

https://www.portokalkulator.de/portokalkulator/std

Also the seller by Picclick is Kieskemper, a dealer in Germany. But perhaps you find another one via Picclick. This platform is an USA based one as far as I know. (I never used Picclick).

Best regards

Wolfgang

Thank you Wolfgang,

I'll check out the options. Isn't it amazing how the smallest little part can hold up a project? Not that I'm in a rush on this long term project but it seams like the smallest things take the most effort sometimes.

Thanks again,

Gary

Hi Gary,

Pretty hard to find these "downunder" so I bought mine from this Ebay seller,

Thank you all for the help and discussion. I was able to get some of these screws online this morning. I am also using the two sided tape trick in the meantime.

There is nothing like having a team of international advisors to help construct a model railroad. BigGrin

Now I am remembering the many hours in the basement pondering how to proceed with a problem as a kid, getting cool ideas from the "masters" at local train shows, and checking out the next issue of Model Railroader or a track plan magazine at the hobby store - but not buying them because I wanted to spend the money on a train.

Thank again all for the help. This forum is a lot fun!

another option, Velcro. Glue one side to the panel and glue the other to the surface you want it on.

Though not the same item, see http://cabin-layout.mixmox.com/2014/08/Viessmann-5210.html

Any double sided tape would do.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Yes, many screws. 50 to be exact. I only need about 3/4 of the controls mounted on that board for this new layout but is sure does look good!
