Thought some of you might like to see the little tip I developed to replace missing the missing Window cellon on older models.

I first did this with an old HAMO Tram a few months ago and was very pleased with the result so I thought I would try it on my ST800 Body Shell.

It just shows what can be done with what you might have lying around home. In this case, a plastic bottle (Cream or Milk)

The bare Body Shell - no windows



The plastic bottle - (600ml cream)...



Cut an incision, then cut with scissors a long strip roughly a bit wider (this one is 2cm) than the finished product needs to be... (to allow for smooth trimming)

(note that I cut the strip in a spiral around the bottle so that I could get the required length in a single strip)






Now trim the strip for a smooth edge and constant width - I used an old drawing-board with a T-square simply because I had one but you could just do it easily with a ruler






Now fit the strip into the body shell, very easy on this model because it has guides for the windows to fit into...

Trim ends as required....









The End Product... not bad aye?



I just need to finish the handrails, I have some stainless-steel dental wire which is perfect for this, just as soon as I can find where I stored it!!

(and now compare with a random image of the same item taken off the internet just now - I'd be happy with that



Hopefully this might inspire someone with a Loco or Coach missing some windows to put it right - this took me about 15 minutes start to finish - cost? $0.00
