I am now just setting up my Marklin layout again and would like to use catenary. I want to continue to use M-track since I have a fair amount of M-track. Can the new Marklin posts, masts, and catenary be used with M-track? Thanks.

No, they cannot. However posts for M Track can be readily found on ebay

And why you should not be able to use those poles with M-track? Cant you just screw them to the base board, as if it where K-track? The clips are obviously not compatible

Potentially yes, that's possible. My post was a reference to stand alone, as it comes packaged

Worse than that it is expensive, i would try first directly at Sommerfeldt, or try other brands perhaps, thinking that perhaps when i build my layout i will use the catenary.i have only for hidden sections, and try other brands for the exposed ones

Is the Viessmann version less costly than what Maerklin is offering under their brand?

Sommerfeldt, yes, a couple of euros less per pole, wich is not neglectable.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the extra height of M track limit the choice of catenary masts?

There's not much difference in height between M track and C track.

Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways
Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

I find myself in similar situation with lots of M-track, except that I also have catenary masts and wires for M-track. I really like the looks of the new Marklin wires. I'm willing to let go of the old M-track masts and wires. But I also like the flexibility of the M-track clip-on masts. I have the Sommerfeldt catalog and all the masts are bolted onto the base board. Is there any way to have clip-on masts and new thin wires from Marklin or Sommerfeldt? Maybe another manufacturer? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure in the past I clipped the new style mast onto m track using the c track clips. It was a little bit tight, but it will work as I recall.

I'll try to find a spare mast to check
