Hello, Everyone:

In my never-ending quest to get Marklin locos to speed up, I am considering tinkering with the CV parameters of the locos so as to change the ratio between pulling power and speed.

The idea would be that the loco would be able to pull fewer wagons but go at a faster speed. BigGrin ThumpUp

Any thoughts as to whether this could work?

Thanks.

Silvano

Except for some C Sine locos, Märklin's factory setting will be maximum speed. Changing CVs can hardly make locos faster than Märklin's factory default settings.

There could be exceptions where you can gain a little bit of extra speed by fiddling with the load regulation CVs. You shouldn't try this if an MS2 is the best controller you have because you cannot read the factory default settings.

More promising approaches: increase the track voltage (will reduce motor longevity) or change the gears.
