I have been trying to figure out how to make a realistic grade crossing on a curve with my K-track. One night laying in bed in Munich (or was it Berlin, or Nurnberg?) I got an idea. Here it is: I took a piece of thin balsa wood about the thickness of the track, and cut it to fit between the rails, leaving space for the flanges to operate: I then painted it like the road and striped it, and placed it in the roadbed with "tacky wax" I took a piece of Viessmann catenary wire and cut it somewhat longer than the road width, and cut off all the vertical wires except one, then soldered a lead to that one: Then I drilled a few holes for the wire, bent the ends down to go through the roadbed, and hooked up the wire. Here is the (almost) finished product (I have some touch-up to do): I may replace the wires with some of the black anodized new catenary from Marklin to get rid of the silver line trhough the road. It works great. |

Neat solution, would probably work with C-track as well. Only one problem- no crossing barrier.[:0] Better watch out or the NTSB will be on you. Ira |

I have the lights for it..just haven't installed them yet. I also bought a barrier for it (Viessmann slow acting) but the actuators hang down below the platform too far and interfere with the hidden track below. I'll use them somewhere else. |
