What about yourself?

Hello,
According to my computer, I have 56,9 m of M track used only for carpet layouts.
I also have C tracks for carpet layouts and K tracks for a layout module currently in the design phase.

Hi,

From time to time I still use my M-track dating back to 1957 to run some of my old locos. A matter of nostalgia... For everyday use I prefer C-track of course!

Proud owner of..................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..................
let me see.........
At least 250 5106, 50 turnouts of all types, all with solenoids, 150 5100, 100 5200, 20 5120, plenty of make-up and adjustment track (real plenty), lots of feeder, uncouplers, contact and circuit tracks, bumpers, etc.....
Also of course lights for the uncouplers, electromagnetic level crossings and enough catenary for about the half of the track.
Numbers are aprox, i lost the exact count many time ago................

Only a little K- track for bridges and the turntable

I love it... M Track rrrooooooooools... biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I have a tonne of it and will use nothing else. [:p][:p] Works great with digital, but the trick is to connect same generation m-track together as there are slight differences in rail height and lenth over the 40 years of production....

I Have never counted how many pieces of track I have But I can tell you that I have lots. Sometimes think of changing to C but never get round to doing so.

Maybe the expense is on my mind and rather spend the money on a new Loco or coach etc.[:I]

Hello Steven and all ones!!

My layout too is mainly with M-tracks. In my opinion they are very fine and solid. My first 5100 oval with some manual turnout goes back to the last sixties. I have only a C-track section.

Best regards

My old layout from the 1960's is completely made with M-track (16 m in total). I like that wonderful rumbling when four trains are running.

The turnouts (5117) have R1 radii and big lanterns. Fit extremely well to my 24-cm-tinplate coaches: newer 27 cm coaches and even my US streamliners hang at the lanterns. Some typical M-trackk accessories on my layout: mechanical road crossing 7390, steel bridge, signals 7039/7040.

I have about 850 pieces of M. My layout (only on paper at the moment) is the one in the 1971 catalog. I used to think that would be something else. I have enough for that but I have picked up some additional cheap along the way for display cases.

I have about 1000 sections of m track including about 40 turnouts in storage for my new layout which will be a mixture of m and k track for reasons of cost. I was interested in the subject of screws as I will be short of them for the new layout and have found no substitutes for the ones sold by Marklin.

Hallo. In my principal layout I use K-tracks, but I'm planning a little layout (2,5 x 1 m) built of m-tracks (I have plenty of them, some with continuous central rail) and old accessories ('50 - '60).

Bye

Sorry, missed this post first time round.

My layout uses M track, mostly from the 1950s, some is even 3 rail. Over the years a lot of the track has become bent and dented, making the running far from perfect.

I plan on using C track for my next layout, mainly because it is easier to get hold of. I have already started getting the track together in preparation for construction.

The vote of owners of tracks was

51% owners of M-tracks
39% owners of C-tracks
10% owners of K-tracks

The winners is M-tracks!

Very happy with that, the problem is that is more likely to be of huge amounts of M track on the world.
But we still are the winners.

Geez, I thought I was the only on to harbor/collect/use this old stuff. But I draw the limit with the 3600 series. No siree no old stuff for me.

Lets see 5100 about 225 pieces (curved) 5106 (straight) close to 275 with more than ample make up sections in both. I have just under a 100( 92ea) of the 5200 series. Again a bunch of 1/2's 1/4's and other make up. Lots of uncouplers and masts. I will use the masts for the C-track.

Not much in the turnout stuff less than 70. Just enough for a table top puzzle. I still like the stuff, and find it hard to pass up at my local dealer and swap meets. No more ebay, freight to high.

I had moved over to K-track with plan to build a couple of modules, but got turned off and never built anything, not on to C-track which it my latest craze.

The grandkids love it and design their own layots on the table and floorbahn. They just make it up as they go. I give them the layout book, but they won't have none of that stuff. They just want to do it their way. So that is the way it goes. I am not about to get in their way. I want them to have fum. Maybe I will get into it later on with plans for a fixed layout.

I just have fun with the table top stuff.

Hello Mark,

if nobody from the U.S. will answer, then ask me again, I got lots of those ..... One condition though: pictures of the charity layout posted here, if that would at all be possíble.

I have kept all my straight M-Track for display cabinet use, and sold almost everything else. For my layout I use K-Track for its great looks, non rustin, large radii turnouts and flex track.

So I still have the M-track for boyhood nostalgia. Kids have some Alpha track and C-Track for their carpet layout...

I have aprox 100 straight/curved sections of M, 13 points and 2 double slip cross-overs and some odds and ends all bought for my son secondhand in 1965. I also have just aquired 50 lengths of pre 1939 track with 2 points. Cann't wait to get stared resoring this lot now my son has lost interest. (most has been in store for the past 20 years) lots of rust to beat but the engines and rolling stock have held up well.

Hi,

I have about 70 metres of M-Tracks and my layout at home is completely built by M-Tracks. There is just one part of about 1.5 m which is made of C-Tracks. The layout itself is about 25 metres and it takes one train about 3-4 minutes to get around the whole layout.
If you're interested feel free to watch a roundtrip filmed from my V 200 Video Loco her:

Caution the file is about 5MB large. The video was made during the construction of that layout.
Regard from Karachi
Thomas

My layout is completely M Track. I have recently been right through the layout and replaced older track with some brand new unused M Track that I was able to purchase. This was because of the number of derailments I was experiencing with some of the older pieces I had. The layout consists of about 7 pairs of turnouts, 4 pairs of curved turnout, 3 three way turnouts, and 5 double slip switches. Also there are about 120 5106 straights, 30 or so 5100 curves, and 24 or so 5200 curves, plus other makeup pieces. I have also been buying some C Track, ready for the day (if ever) that I get some more space to expand the layout. You can see some photos of the layout at http://bigdaddynz.f2g.net/Marklin . Question: Who recognises where this layout plan comes from - Hint: One of the Marklin Catalogues.biggrin Further Hint: The answer is already in this Thread.....biggrinbiggrinbiggrin
