Hi Per, all,
I can't promise you anything right now... I'm studying... (in some sort of way) But the least I can do is posting some pictures of the model in its steady state (just before my camera ran out of batteries)
I'll do that this weekend.
Now, I've got to get back to my study again.

Hi all,
I would love to post some pictures of my ATTEMPT to run the Live Steam Loco again. However, the **** thing is leaking like a basket so I've had to send it back to Märklin (once again).
Anyway, pictures will follow (once).

I get the impression that running a real 1:1 steam engine is much easier...

Receied my 55003 from Germany last week. Got it out of the super large box and began the set-up process. Lots ofvery delicate parts, which if your not careful will either break or fall off. Its a beautiful engine.I got together with two friends, on Friday and filled the water tank, and fuel. added oil and tried to start the engine the Piezo does not seem to work. Once we got steam up it ran for about fifteen minutes smooth as could be. However, it doesn't like grades or turnouts. Its going to take a lot of time t figure this one out. I hope it doesn't become an expensive wall display. Any input on fixing the piezo? Also best way to fire up useing a lighter or long match. No diagrams show the exact firebox location and no list of parts came with the engine. I guess I was lucky that their where some instructions in English.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Stephen, All,
I've had the Piezo problem with my 55003 too. Didn't fix it myself, since it's still under guarantee. To fire it up without Piezo I use a lighter usually used in the kitchen to fire the furnace. It's longer than a regular lighter and worsk fine for this purpose. I hope your 55005 is better and I'm looking forward to your pictures!

Hi stephenhh,
I notice there is small red cross in the box.

Hi to all you steamers.
My 55005 is running. However, can't seem to get enough power to run up any grade. She seems to have more power in reverse. Also the remote controls don't seem to have much variation. its either full power or no power..
Another question is who has spare parts available v ia email?
I am so new to steam and its fun but frustrating. Back to HO tonight.

Congratulations! Must be great fun to run this engine, even if it is a large effort.
Is there any technical description of this lok available, I would be interested to know how it works, and how the steam engine is controled. I suppose it needs a lot of fine tuning before it works properly, like Schumi's Ferrari.

The manual is very limited. No details of engine design or anything technical. The parts list is in German, and easy to pick out different components however no real discriptions..
Atleast I've got a friend whoes Layout is raised and we are able to try different variations to get the engine working.
The biggest problem is that their is so much detail and its very delicate. An engine as heavy as this one is should have been built with more robust parts and a lot less plastic which can melt.
If I continue with live steam it most likly won't be another Marklin engine.
Their are many available from other companies.
