My father has a 76515 crane that he controls with a 60652 remote. Everything was working fine with the default value address 71. Suddenly, the hook went down at full speed and everything stopped. The crane lights come on when the crane is powered but the remote doesn't control anything on the crane anymore. He has tried a reset of the remote, and re-tried controlling the crane with address 71 but no reaction from the crane.

Is there a way to reset the crane itself ?

No unfortunately. He only has the 60652 remote control that he uses exclusively for the crane, as it is the only Marklin product he has on his layout.

The crane is out of warranty, so we took it appart to check all the connections of the daughter board decoder, wires, and if motors were turning freely by hand. Nothing jammed, nothing disconnected, nothing physically broken. So we came to the same conclusion as you: busted decoder.

Pretty frustrating for a $400 crane.

He will surely never buy another Marklin product again... Poor quality electronics.

Perhaps you're right.

But maybe if the crane didn't cost so much (with the additional cost of buying a remote control just for it because Marklin doesn't supply even a very basic one with it to control it) my father would take his loss, and simply accept the fact that he's unlucky.

Anyway, advice to anyone looking to buy this 76515 crane: be prepared to loose a lot of money if yours should eventually fail too, outside the warranty of course.

(Unfortunately no other company makes such a detailed operational crane. And my father, living in north america, doesn't have anything else Marklin so that's why he had to buy a dedicated remote control just for it)

Of course, there is a possibility that it is the 60652 or it's control box 60113 that has failed.
As you are only using those for the crane, the fault could lie there, and be cheaper to solve.

Again, a visit to the supplying dealer with all 3 Items would be very helpful I think.
