Hi Team
I'm very new to this - my father-in-law gave my 7yr old son a Marklin starter set for christmas 2010 and up until now it's been plain sailing! We recently acquired a Digital loco 3674 (his order was it had to look the same at each end!!) but cannot get it to work with the current set up. The lights come on, but no movement. Can this loco work with this controller? I've found out about the coding switches that are inside but don't know if they are set incorrectly for this setup and what they should be set to.
He has 3 locos that work on setting 1,2 & 4.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Cheers
Bob

Hello Bob. Welcome to the forum.
Do you have the manual booklet that came with both this new lok and the controller?
The controller has 4 presets available.
As # 3 is the only one not taken you need to change the address on the lok.
There is a screw at the top of the body or shell, remove that, then remove the body.
Find the dip switches, some describe as a piano keyboard.
You need to set the address to 60. That would be. 1 n n n 5 n n n

Bob, Another consideration to think of. The model you mention was last produced 20 years ago. http://www.bahn.hfkern.d...erklin/Dt_Loks_V216.htmlIf it has been a few years since this lok ran, it maybe in need of service. After you change the dip switches, leave the body off, and place the chassis on the track. Look to see if the motor or gears are binding when you add throttle. The lok should also be clean of dust balls and lint. If it needs a clean and service use the search function on this site, lot's of good info here. r/Thomas |

Hi Thomas Thanks for this. Initially I thought my chances of finding the manual would be poor at best, but I had success. A bigger success was a manual that is actually useful once you've set it up (thumbs up to Marklin!) The presets are 78,72,60,24 When my son isn't around I'll give it a test run, and also looking at the servicing point you raised - thanks for that as well. I'll let you know how I go in the next day or two. Really appreciate your very speedy assistance Cheers Bob
