I have purchased a Maxi #5454 Central Pacific Locomotive. It was running fine and all of the sudden stopped. The lights will still operate in the forward and reverse direction, but the train will not move. Have tried another locomotive on the same track and it works fine. Has anyone ever experience a similar problem?

Hello:

See if the switch in the cab is set for normal run. Also check that the chip is properly seated

Thanks Paul. The only switch in the cab is for the smoke generator. I took out the chip and reseated it. It worked for about 2 seconds and stopped again. I am going to check the wiring for a short.

Got it! A wire had come loose at the motor. I soldered it back together and it is working good as new.
