In 1939 Märklin placed a number of new items on the market – like turntable 410M with remote control, small level crossing 455, small crane 463, portal crane 464 and uncoupling rail section EK 13600. But the main innovation of 1939 was the introduction of the new
coupling system called BK ( German BügelKupplung).
To make advertisement of these products more effectful, Märklin built the display 800/219.

I have got the knowledge about the Märklin displays from an article of the German Tinplate Forum , in which I found this picture of the display:

I checked my Märklin items of 1939 – all were available – so I started the next project.
Enjoy the pictures….

Thanks Wolf for this one more layout. I have seen exactly the same on Tischbahn website which has been shown during a fair. Your hability to rebuild every old Marklin 00 layout is superb ! Thanks to share with us all those pictures.

By the way, did you once reproduce the Leipzig Fair Layout ?

Kurzschluß translates into short-circuit (or just short).

On the other hand, if you make shortcuts when doing the wiring, then you may easily end up with short-circuits. BigGrin

Then, being on topic of shorts - how many of you have used the Märklin 7000 cable clamps?

My experience with them was that if you hammered them into you layout board and did that slightly crooked, then they could easily cause hard to find shorts. (I did all the wiring underneath the layout and that of course led to awkward hammering positions).

Märklin 7000

Do I need to say that I stopped using them long before they disappeared as a Märklin's product. Smile

Dear Wolf,
Great I saw your 1939 Layout and the photos which show how it was developed step by step.
As you know I am interested in creating a layout of the period 1955 1965. Do you have pictures like these for a layout of this period.
I do have a Hornby Dublo HO Turntable manual can I use it on this layout
Regards,
Kumar

Hi Geoff,
I collect for nearly 70 years - with "up and downs" ( eg: a 20 year old boy has other interestsConfused );
I have got my first trainset christmas 1943.

Hi Wolf,
Greetings from the Out West. That is an excellent layout. Now that I've gotten the space for it, I'm also finally embarking on a similar 00 project. I realize this topic is from years back but would you have a track plan of this layout that you can share? Also, can a trackplan for the big Leipzig Fair layout be found?

BTW did you ever build the Leipzig layout?

Thanks!
Sil

Hello Sil,
Yes, I have also built the great Leipzig fair layout 1939,
see here:
https://www.marklin-user...g--Toy-Fair-Display.aspx
and on youtube :

There is no official track plan available, my track plan was "reconstructed" from available pictures.
Sil, do you want to have a great layout to play withor just one on show.??
I built the Leipzig layout with the original pre-war material like tracks , switches, signals etc.
But, but, but, -- the pre-war switches and signals didn't work reliable, so my fun /enjoyment vanished to play with this layout.

Therefore I "re-built" this layout / track plan with the post-war 3600 tracks, switches , signals etc in order to have more fun with the layout.
Here are some pics of this new layout.

Kind regards
Wolf
