[Poll] M* Insider Model 2012: Which Model do You Expect?

Hi, folks, Märklin published the six top favourites of the Insider Model Poll: - E 95
- V 320
- streamlined BR 06
- powered rail car class 403 (era IV)
- BR 58
- ET 30.
And AFAIK one of these six will be the 2012 Insider Model. Unlike the other poll, the question here is which one do you expect? Three of these models already exist from Brawa, class 403 has been made before, Märklin made BR 58 for I gauge already, the ET 30 looks similar to the VT 08.5. The six recent Insider Models were all era III (4 steamers, 2 diesel powered rail cars). So E 95 and V 320 would be a change of propulsion while the 403 would be an era IV model again. OTOH with the 06 they could make another era II model - and BR 58 could be era II or III or whatever ... So maybe the model you expect is not the model you like best, hence I made two polls ... |

I would prefer the Br58, but I have a feeling it's going to be another railcar. I've chosen the ET30 |

Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways
Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

...the fact that Marklin could publish the list of winners leaves me unconvinced & more than sceptical .....I don't really believe it. So, why should we wait for a new catalogue every year, as well as the announcement in November of the next Insider model...?

I have a 06 model from Brawa and it is excellent except that it doesn't run well on R360 curves.
Let's put Marklin to the test of making a BR06 better than Brawa's.

Considering the likely winner is like picking the winner of The Derby, or the Melbourne Cup.
Or the Eurosong/Eurovision/Fifa cup for soccer etc contest.
However I will go for BR58, because:
1. they just released an E17, so not likely to do another E.
2. covers eras 1, 2 and 3
3. a railcar in metal is much more complex (more sections), eg The Comet a few years ago

Märklin already made the BR 06 in H0/00 scale - and AFAIK it runs on all tracks (it's so old, there are only three power axles on this loco (SK 800)). But seriously: the SK 800 is not state of the art, a modern BR 06 would find many buyers. I wonder if the trick used for the BR 05 will also work to get BR 06 through 360 mm with closed skirts. |

But on Stummi's Forum many experts said that E 95, V 320, and 06 made no sense as Brawa already made them, the 403 exists from Lima/Rivarossi - so it had to be the ET 30 or the 58. And then they concluded that the 58 is most likely as it already exists in gauge Z and I. The polls I started here and on Stummi's forum show a different picture (but may not be representative of all Insider members). On Stummi's forum, the 403 is leading in both polls. IMHO if many Insiders voted for these models in Märklin's poll then they might make them - even though Brawa made good models not long ago. I expect that Märklin will make four, five, or maybe even six models from that list. So the question is "when", not "if" the model will come. Maybe a change for 2012. That gives me a break anyway, 'cos I won't be buying anything era IV. regards Kimball |
