Hi everyone. Another model I'm thinking of getting is either 39103 or 39104, but I can't decide. Both of them are the BR 01.10, but one of them is coal firing and the other in oil firing. They both have the same sound functions I think.

If there are any users who own either one or both models, then please help me out.

Cheers!

Tadzio.

It's as you say: 39104 has coal tender and silver boiler rings, 39103 has oil tender and black boiler rings.

39104 was an MHI item, and a successful item so it could be more expensive.
Both have the excellent original C sine motor - and both have a decoder with a mouse piano (DIP switches) and the old type of sound (that sounds like a Diesel loco at high speeds). No random sound effects, but OK as long as you drive slow enough.

So get the one you like better - or get both if you cannot decide.
Regards
Tom

I have both as well, Run very well since brought in 2004.

Both locos have no problem at all.

Hi everyone. I think I'm going to pass on 39103 and 39104 due to the fact that both of them aren't mfx digital. I'd rather buy a loco that's newer and has mfx digital technology.

Maybe I'll buy the catenary car from Euro Model Trains, although I'm not sure yet. There are many other choices out there at the moment.

Thanks for your help and understanding.

Cheers!

Hi Tadzio, I understand that you prefer MFX technology, but you are going to miss out on a lot of really nice models if you rule out all non-mfx locos.

Most non-mfx locos can be found in your CS1 loco database, so it's quite simple to add them to your running list.

37104 same as 39104 but in mfx and high-efficiency propulsion.

That's up to you.
These locos have the best Märklin H0 motor ever - only three models have been made with mfx and C Sine motor.
The decoder is excellent with respect to driving (only the chuff-chuff sound is not state of the art).

The 37104 has a much better decoder sound - but you can hardly hear it coz the motor is so noisy.
The catenary maintenance car is a better alternative: good decoder sound and quiet motor.
