I have been looking at lokshop and confued with all different Seuthe numbers for my loco's. I am looking at smoke units for my loco's and what Seuthe is the model requred. Can anyone assist which is the models required fo: 3003 3048 3084 3085 3102 3318 Now I am looking at converting to Loksound V4 and going digital so will these smoke units still be ok? I have been bombarding poor john (rivers) from perth, so I am looking at giving hm a break from my newbie queries cheers Dale Edited by user 18 June 2011 10:34:09(UTC)

Hi, Jacko, There are two different shapes of smoke generators for Märklin locos: big (M* #7226, Seute #10) and small (M* #72270, Seuthe #20). These are for analogue voltage. For digital voltage there is the same shape with higher voltage: big Seuthe #11 and small Seuthe #24. So you'll need either Seuthe #10 or #20 for your locos as they are now. 3003: not prepared for smoke generator 3048: #10 3084: #10 3085: #10 3012: ??? 3318: #20 (All information is supplied without guarantee.) Normally smoke generator will be controlled by the decoder and you'll need the analogue type even for digital locos. If the smoke generator is not wired to the decoder, you'll need the digital type. |

Dale,
the same as 3085 but the 3102 takes 2 smoke units.
With the 3003, Seuthe make some generators for locos with plastic housing. I've used some of these smoke generators, although the smoke stack on a 3003 is just enough to squeeze one of the smoke generators through but if you fail to hit the dead centre when drilling (hand drilling prefered, as the drill bit heat is too much when using an electric drill and it deforms the plastic or could actually be ripped off and gets stucked to the drill bit).
Somewhere I've shown photos of locos being converted with smoke generators.

Here's a reference chart I picked up from where I don't know, that shows all the Seuthe smoke unit types. Bigdaddynz attached the following image(s):

I've been told the 7226 is more efficient than the 72270, and gives less trouble?....or is this just "urban legend"?? Joe

But since they have different sizes, it's a case of take it or leave it. 7226 can be installed without removing the shell of the loco. BTW: the Seuthe kits come with a syringe that can be used to insert the smoke fluid into the generator. I recommend to get at lest one Seuthe kit to get hold of such a syringe. |

Thanx for that Tom - I certainly need that syringe - what a mess to get oil into my BR23!! That 50ml bottle of 02420 fluid is going down FAST!!So what Seuthe kits will I need for my 39230 and for my older 3309? Joe

I will put in my order for the #10 when I order my 39302 blue ML 2200 CC Joe
