Hello all
Following up on orphan items...
I have had this 366 for 55 years...with a broken jib!Crying
I have everything else, including the little weighted hook and a brand new set of (Ritter) wheels.
Would anyone have an orphan intact jib for a 366?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jacques,

I haven't got a diecast jib, but I have got a spare tin-plate one that would fit the earlier version of the 366. It's also red, as it comes from a 429 static crane, but otherwise it's the same part as on the 366.

You are welcome to it if it's any use!

Best wishes,

Thanks to Nigel Packer generous contribution, I have now created a puzzle for future Märklin archeologists!
The tin plate jib is supposed to be mounted on a 366 chassis with "KK" (i.e. Klauen Kupplung), but this one is equipped with BK (Bügel Kupplung).
And on top of it , it is RED...was supposed to be silver painted.
"Illegal" maybe, but so lovely!BigGrin
Thanks again Nigel, you made my day (and a few more...)
Cheers

Hi All,

Noob here, my first post. Great forum here !

Interesting thread above ... I just bought what was advertised on eBay as a "366G" crane car (see following pix):

366G_1

366G_2

366G_3

For one, I can see that the flatbed the jib is mounted on is not the same as the one in Jacques' photo, and I wonder if it's authentic or not.
The fact that the tip of the jib barely clears the couplers seems odd ... what could that "G" mean ?

And second, as you can see it's missing its hook ... so as Jacques said : "Would anyone have an orphan intact [hook] for a 366?"

Hah ;P

Thanks for any help on this one ;)

Yum

Hi Yum,

Welcome to the forum. ThumpUp

Here's a photo of my 366 crane, bought a couple of months ago.

In not as good condition as your own, and not sure if the hook is correct.

Thanks Ian, nice to be here !

That does look like the original hook, at least it resembles the one Jacques says he has had for 55 years (... although his is now painted red Woot ).

That's the one I have to find, somewhere.

But your picture is now making me wonder even more about the flatbed. You apparently have no railing on the back end, unless it is missing ...

I assume Märklin must have fabricated different versions of it ... still a mystery to me at this time.

Found it !

That's the hook, the flat car is 3-1/4" to buffers and the railing looks right ... found in the 1954 catalog :

Thanks to Markus' link in another post, I found the spare part #137.007 here : http://www.ritter-restaurationen.de/

Bit steep : €8.80 + €11.20 handling charge = €20.00 ... without shipping. Crying

If anyone sees one these ^^, preferably from epoch, please let me know.
Thanks,

Hi Yum
I thing the "G" stands for Guss (for die cast) to differentiate from the pre ww 2 which was a tin plate version.
Mine is no way original: I think the chassis comes from a 367 Talbot car
I bought this a loooong time ago (I was still in high school and I am 67 now...) and really wanted that car in my collection.
Thanks to Nigel, I created a "monster"...but I love it.
Now if you want the original hook, I regularly buy lots of parts from Ritter, so I can buy it for you so you'll save the handling charges.
I'll drop it off at my next trip to Paris.
Cheers

I will give you a sign from this forum before I leave from Paris, probably around July/August.

igf2,

Thanks for that pic .. I see that the original hook is in fact brass.

I recognize in your pic the string (rope) I have, and it surely doesn't look like the one Ritter proposes ...
The two cotter pins seen on the car bed top holding the trucks are interesting too ... hmmmm.
And no railing either ...

Impecc, merci !

You are right, the rope is essential ! I noticed too the 2 cotter pins and the lack of railing. But keep in mind that there were sightly differences between the different issues.Check with the Koll's.

You have the choice between a pocket version (cheaper but without any photos)and a more expensive one in 2 volumes but with photos. For a first try, I will recommend you the second one even if it's heavier BigGrin

Hello all,
The Ritter hook *and* wire are the correct ones, I can assure you!
The ball counterweight is made of nickel plated brass, the hook being steel.
Since I have lost my "original", I have replaced it temporarily with a Meccano #57b...whose red color is a good match to the "illegal" jib!Wink Wink
As for the "rope", the problem with this model is that the original silk thread delivered with the car has rarely survived the many years of use...Wink
The one I received from Nigel Packer was pretty close : a red silk thread
From memory, when I got this when I was a kid, it was a black silk wire.
The Ritter replacement in on my list "To order from Ritter" which I update each time I need parts.
I place my order every time I reach 250 to 300 €, so I save on adminstrative cost (shipping and cost of international money transfer)
Hence my offer: if someone around France needs something from Ritter, I'll be glad, within reason, to add your order to mine.
Cheers

Bonsoir Alle,

First, wanna cross reference this post with this wonderful thread by igf2:
https://www.marklin-users.net/forum/yaf_postsm285331_00-Layout--1939-1945.aspx#post285331

Second, addressed to Jacques, in addition to the #366 hook, I am looking for other spare parts to restore my locos, such as:
Smoke deflectors #20457 and #20458 for a #3048 loco ... (see pic plz)
One of my dealers affirmed : "Märklin only manufactures the #20458 (left one)", so I wonder ... is it Märklin, or my dealer, that is daft ? ;P
Any chance Ritter has these ?

Of course I am willing to pool resources, as these are not the only the parts I am looking for ... !
I will send other part numbers asap ... since July/August and trips to Toulouse are very near ;)

Plz lemme know,

Yum ThumpUp

PS: Wondering if "Collectors Corner" is enough to cover these "parts" topics (only place I have found to post this info is in here atm ...),
or if "Restoration" thread might be helpful as sub-topic ... hmmm, dun wanna give too much work to webmasters either ... ^^

Hi all,

Just bought myself another 366 crane. (hook missing)

Has a railing on the chassis, so is likely a '54 or '55 model.

Photo's soon.

Hi Ian,

If that's the case (like mine), then its a 366NK.10 ...
... according to the Bigio site:

Is the only one with a railing ^^... ThumpUp

Hi,

And here my latest Marklin-crane, a 5521/36 from 1938-1941. The crane-part is very similar to the 366, but on the counterweight is additional stamped "36". The crane is repaired, the other parts seem original.

Hi Markus,

Couple of photo's showing the other end of the box, there is no other markings on the box.

Could the 6-49 be the box/crane date?

The 5/6 could be the price, in old money that is 5 shillings and 6 pence.

Ian.

Hi Ian,

6-49 means June 1949 and 5/6 is the price in Shilling/pence. In and after WWII Britain had a noticeably inflation. In the 1938-Hornby-catalogue ("The Hornby Book of Trains") that crane was priced at only 2/9.

Regards

Markus

Hi Markus,

Thanks for the information. ThumpUp

With regards to the inflation, I think we're all experiencing that at the moment.

Ian.

Time to bring this thread out of retirement!

I guess it is my turn to try and find some parts for a 366 Kranwagen.

I believe this is version 10 since it has the railing......is this correct?

I'm not sure if the thread is original or not. I am wondering if I should order the hook & Ball from Ritter Restoration.

Any recommendations on how to procede?

Vielen dank.......Rich
