More like 450-500, I would say... Some are trying to sell it at 750-800, but that is a "bit" too much...

Scandanavian Galleries has one at approx. US$ 770.00. Minus approx. 15% for ebay and related costs 650.00?

Juhan, does this set have sprung buffers? I know Smile Smile the 2670/2870 sets do.

Jeremy.

Koll's catalogue 2010 has this set at 240 Euros, and the Swedish version 28702 with the yellow mailbox is 250 Euros. The loco also has a different road number, 944 for set 28703 and 938 for 28702.

Afternoon Svein,

Thanks for posting piccy, handsome tank engine, the coaches are also very pleasing to look at.

We know thw Scandanavian Toy Gallery price is OTT, we know the Kolls value, all we need is the value that JMK will
put on it.

Jeremy.

ps. This set was my second purchase after Prem. US set.jp.

Hi Ian,

According to my entry in my loco database both 28702 and 28703 are Delta.
(I can't get to the train set due to remodelling of our house, but I'm pretty sure this entry is accurate).

This is slightly OT, but is anything with a 5 digit PN that is not Delta/Digital? I can only think of 30321 (BR81, I believe just a renumbering of 3021) that doesn't fit this logic.

It is shown in the 1999/00 catalog.

Does Delta use an AC or DC motor? I have one on it's way from Germany and this would be my first Delta locomotive.

But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

28702 and 28703 had Delta decoders and drum commutator AC motors.

I converted my 28703 with a 60901 conversion set.

Hi,

Most Delta - models use an "classic" AC-Motor. But there are also examples for DELTA-models with DC-motors, e.g. models which came from the TRIX-assortement. 1-- gauge models with Delta-decoders always use DC-motors.

42702 is the expansion car for this set. It is also different from the cars supplied in the set, especially with the window frames.

Hi Ian,

Nice set - congratulations! ThumpUp

And then there is the other good set - 28702 to think about, unless you have it already. Having SJ Sa 938 (instead of Sa 944 as in 28703). One shop that I go to in Sweden indicate they have it. Trainshop.se.

Yes, if I remember correctly the 28702 was only sold in Sweden during 1999. The difference between the two sets is the different road numbers on the Sa loco and that the baggage-car on the 28702 has a yellow letter box. Also, the box on the 28702 states Brio 60 years in Sweden (the former general agent for Märklin in Scandinavia).

That there exist two versions of this set is not surprising if one consider the 2870, where Märklin issued two different sets in 1988 (2870.1) and 1989 (2870.2) with more or less the same difference; namely the yellow letter box on baggage-car which the Swedish version has and the international does not. The 2670, which is the digital version of the 2870.2, does not have the yellow letter box.
