Ok

I was browsing on Trade Me looking at European Locos until I came across a Fleischmann loco, can they be compatible with MFX and sound decoders?

http://www.trademe.co.nz...es/auction-312989907.htm

I am still thinking if its worth buying

Do you realise you are looking at an analogue loco? it says in the description.
So the quick answer will be no. you will have to wire in a MFX decoder yourself.

Some Fleischmann locos have a 6-pin NEM socket, some have an 8-pin NEM socket - some have an electronic reversing unit soldered in.
I can't say anything about the BR 50 in question.

It seems that Fleischmann put lots of locos in stock which were dumped into the market recently. You'll find analog locos, MM only locos (some even without load regulation and Uhlenbrock decoders), and MM/DCC locos with current ESU decoders.

They used to make a BR 50 in 1:85 (IIRC) - and I don't know which scale this model has.
Fleischmann steamers have a powered tender (the BR 50 has 2 driven axles) and normally are not prepared for smoke generators.
The Fleischmann steamers I have look very nice, but some are weak pullers.
Regards
Tom

It is a Fleischmann 1179, and according to the following webpage is 1:87 scale, is AC only with an electronic reverse unit, and has no decoder or decoder interface. Motor is in the tender, with 4 wheels driven.

They say it's "Spur: H0 1:87" ("Spur" means "gauge").
The "Adler" (which is 1:80) is also shown as "1:87", so this doesn't mean a thing.

Here's a thread (German) that says it's 1:85 (see post by ccs800):
http://www.nexusboard.ne...p/2408/br-50-ac-t299877/

ccs800 says it looks too big if placed beside a Märklin BR 50.

The lok is 1:85, the tender is 1:87! Not sure how that would make it look, but it can't be pretty!
