There used to be a website, by D. Self, which was a mine of information regarding locos of note, design blunder, curiosities etc. The last few times I tried looking for it, it had gone. (In fact it appears to have disappeared in 2007.) Searches on Google don't seem to have come up with a new version. Does anyone know if it still exists and, if so, where?

Yes, that is exactly what I have been doing. However there are a few problems there. I downloaded the most recent archive but there are glitches in it and I have nine (I think) bad links that make no sense. Of course, that may have been the case in the original site.
Obviously, I cannot recreate the site on line without permission from the owner so the locos part of it will just have to remain on my pc for personal reference. A pity because the site (an there were many other parts to it) was excellent, a mine of information, and must have involved a massive amount of research. Thank goodness for archive.org.
