There used to be a website, by D. Self, which was a mine of information regarding locos of note, design blunder, curiosities etc. The last few times I tried looking for it, it had gone. (In fact it appears to have disappeared in 2007.) Searches on Google don't seem to have come up with a new version. Does anyone know if it still exists and, if so, where?

Best wishes,
Chris.

Hi Chris,
The complete link was:
http://www.dself.dsl.pip...UM/LOCOLOCO/locoloco.htm
but as you say it doesn't work.

A search in Google lead me to a similar question in the http://www.railpage.com.au forum, having a response suggesting to look into http://www.archive.org/web/web.php. I copied the URL of Loco Loco inthe search window, and voilà, we can read it!

Regards,

Rafael

Thank you Rafael.

Yes, that is exactly what I have been doing. However there are a few problems there. I downloaded the most recent archive but there are glitches in it and I have nine (I think) bad links that make no sense. Of course, that may have been the case in the original site.

Obviously, I cannot recreate the site on line without permission from the owner so the locos part of it will just have to remain on my pc for personal reference. A pity because the site (an there were many other parts to it) was excellent, a mine of information, and must have involved a massive amount of research. Thank goodness for archive.org.

With best wishes,
Chris.
