Hi All,

As mentioned in previous post I am new to Model Railroading, however I am addictedbiggrin and have bought quite a few loco's since I started.

I have mostly from Marklin, one from Flieschmann and I have the Trainset from Roco.

How are the loco's from Lilliput in terms of quality, detail, running etc.

There is 2 items I would like to get but need some opinions on their products.

Regards

Carriages have excellent details with sprung buffers.
Locos are driven through tender motor.

The cars are fine. The Rheingold set is excellent and much more affordable.

Locomotives are sort of fragile when compared to Marklin.

I have most of the H0 well known brands in my collection and also some liliput as well, coaches and wagons are good (some of them are excellent, some others very poor) but I have some doubts about their locomotives. I have DB BR18.3, DRG BR62, SBB A3/5 and Ae 4/7, none of them is either very good runner or very good detailed design, there is always a “but” in between. Yes all of the tender locomotives have the motor in the tender, but running characteristics are far from similar mounted motor tenders from Fleischmann or Roco which in my personal point of view surpass Marklin/Trix in smooth and flawless running.

Also I had some problems with DCC interface in BR62 and Ae 4/7, the last one comes with a short circuit from the factory, I never seen something like that in hundred DCC conversions I have made by myself. So only if nobody else produce that specific locomotive model and you really want it, in any other case stay away from liliput engines.

If you already know how good/bad Bachmann is, you can expect same quality from Liliput.

In my experience providing that you get a good one then they're fine. I have had a warped coach (caused by the moulding being taken out of the mould before it had cooled properly, Bachmann's UK range had similar problems at one point). They're not Marklin in that they have finer detail, but I really wonder what some people do with their trains that this is a problem for them.

Be aware that Marklin fundamentalists will rubbish anything that isn't Marklin. Read plenty of reviews before making a decision.

HI!
About the locos I don't know and I guess that I never will because I use only Marklin locos (one day maybe I will have the chance to get one from BrawaSmile). As far as I been told they are a bit fragile.

About the freight cars and passengers cars I must confess that I have a few beer wagons and freightcars from the First Era plus passenger coaches from DR...they look nice and I like them!

Gonna revive this ancient thread , well because this is where the feedback belongs.

Just purchased my first Liliput / Bachman locomotive- and it’s a bit of a disappointment.
The Ep4 BR 702 L133245

Initially the issue was it was impossible to move the maintenance platform , which is only manually adjustable. I had to slightly sand down the plastic shaft to relieve the overly tight fit vs the hole in the vehicle. Ok that was solved.

It comes with the LokPilot from ESU and according to the manuals, and others on stummi, it comes with an already built in ESU speaker connected to the mtc21 connection. An access hatch at the bottom allows simple swap of decoders without opening the unit.

Got a new LokSound 5 , programmed it with the sound set for the BR 702, and tested that on the ESU Decoder Tester. Worked as expected and sounded great. So swap the LokSound in for the LokPilot. And nothing. Dead silence. Ugh.

Pulled the decoder back out. Measured the 2 pins next to the key pin, where a speaker would be connected on the loco board , with a multimeter. Nothing. Open circuit.

Measured the ESU speaker that was delivered with the LokSound and that measures 8 ohms and it beeps the diode continuity test.

Back to the L133245, and nothing. No continuity beep and open circuit. So either Bachmann failed to install the speaker , or the wires internally to the speaker are not connected. Ugh. Time to take the thing apart after all.

So I’m not impressed one bit by Bachman / Liliput.

I have a few Liliput locomotives, they've all been good. For the most part I am buying for the series/livery so there is no real choice.

I only have a few Liliput/Bachmann locomotives for the Märklin system (the newest one among them being the Henschel/BBC DE 2500 experimental locomotive). I honestly can't report any serious problems.
