Joined: 03/04/2007(UTC) Posts: 1,605		Hello everyone... I have noticed lately that there is a lack of Marklin websites for collectors here in the US. In Germany there are several websites for the vintage Marklin models like, tischbahn.de and spur-00.de, etc. So, I have created a new one for US users to enjoy. www.marklincentral.com It is very new and I only started on it a few days ago. I hope to also build in a database of pictures of models and scans of catalogs. The "articls" and "pictures" pages are working...the rest have yet to be worked on. Thanks and enjoy! As you said, there are a number of vintage Märklin sites in Europe, but not all of them are in the English language. Might be an idea to work together with them and ask permission to place English translations of their articles on your site. Again, great initiative! I hope it will become Central Station for everyone that wants to know about old Märklin. My only wish would be that you extended your time period into the '60s.... Cheers! Oscar</font id="Verdana]

But everybody that collects Marklin in the US really needs to be familiar with this site http://modellbahn.com/ Will and his brother are very well connected in both Europe and the US, if you are looking for something special, they are the guys to go to. They are in the northern Virginia area, and have a great depth of knowledge. Bill - I like your site !

Joined: 10/02/2006(UTC) Posts: 3,997		I started a Märklin guide about a decade ago at http://marklin.mixmox.com/ my idea was to allow people to create content - for anything Märklin. They could upload images, indicate what spares were appropriate, what they paid for it, its condition etc. I hoped that with enough data it would become a source of useful information. One could also post dealer information and even feedback... etc... Perhaps my user interface was not so good and perhaps I made it all too complicated but for whatever reason, the response was pretty poor.

Eheim, Faller, R&S Model etc. Just a thought. You could always include re-issues like the 30159 Krok and the upcoming Capitole re-release...Also you could exchange links with some of the European Vintage sites, to increase page views...

One of the main aspects that I am going to be working on is connecting all the collectors and websites all over the world. Also...to try and get them to post pictures of their collections! To keep away from problems that I have seen in the past...I think I will remove the "Models" section where I was going to have all trains listed by model number. This has already been done and done very well in other sites. Instead I will have a "Links" / "Collectors" page with good resources for contacts, etc. Individual Model spotlights will be done in the articles section. Regards, Bill

My comment is: Why don't we create a section within this forum on the basis of Wikipedia where members can add and edit content appropriately for all of us to use? I know this is a monumental task, but once we get started it could grow into a valuable resource. This could also facilitate the centralization of all pertinent information on Marklin.
