There is a speculation with Marklin 2009 items in the Stummi forum.

Large Marklinist 3- Rails Layout with CS2/MS2/Boosters/C-track/favorites Electric class E03/BR103, E18/E118, E94, Crocodiles/Steam BR01, BR03, BR05, BR23, BR44, BR50, Big Boy.

If Steven means this:

http://stummi.foren-city...0069,m%E4rklin+2009.html

then it's really only speculation, although it sounds "logical" and realistically feasible. No news on the digital front.

this is only 13 locomotives.

I know times are hard, but Marklin have announced 29 locomotives this year alone.

To my mind this is a wish list from and Epoch III modeller. Expect more surprises

Yes, but how many have been delivered?

Prehaps they are setting some more realistic targets for new production?

Like, I am that keen?

There will be 1 Era 1 and Era 2 locomotive. Bound to be 4-8 era V (or is it era VI now?)

Its 150 years in 2009, so I would expect to see some real tinplate stuff like the 0050 set again as well. Given its 150 years potential is there for a Croc.

Why you would want one I have no idea, but each to there own.

I agree that this list does not seem complete, because there are two things that seem strange:

1) Even if Marklin has reduced non-german productions in these last years, it seems impossible that there are NO swiss news! [:0] I think they will produce at least a new version of some classic model (Ae 6/6, Re 4/4....).

2) It would be also surprising that there are no new versions of E41. In the past, a complete new tooling loco has ever been followed by other versions in the second year!

Ok - I have never hung out for the new items release before so I have no idea when it is likely to come. Any ideas? Will it come out Jan 1st 09 or will it officially be announced sooner than that? Most manufacturers have already announced their 2009 catalogues so it seems a little strange for M* to be behind.

A lot of crep.
"Neukonstruktion 41 mit Neubaukesel und Ölfeuerung der DB auf Fahrgestellbasis der BR 39 Epoche III "

The Br 39 has far bigger wheels then a br 41.

The Br 94 I think so because the loc is also out for track Z and I.

The rest is speculation.

Here is the list of some items maybe for 2009.

The list with nearly 200 items not yet until next January 2009.

The Carl Bellingrodt Edition 4 will be possible be Diesel V300 or BR01.
There is also could be twin BR23 (old and new model, same as 00380).

A class 41 with the chassis of a class 39??
The P10 (later BR 39) was developed in 1922.
The 41 was a new development in 1936. Wheels of the BR 41 are smaller.
I doubt the prototype had the chassis of a BR39.

Long live ebay!

Actually, I prefer this newer wave of highly detailed models, but I totally dig the classic heavy metal stuff and the passion it arises.

I wouldn't mind building me an all classic Märklin layout.

As stated in the translated Stummi posting, the list was a realistic speculation.

The various distribution companies, ie Maerklin Switzerland, also have some say in production, whether it be limited edition models (Re 4/4II twin pack, etc) or on models for the general catalog that would sell well in that market (and internationally).

I would doubt that Maerklin would not produce models for the Swiss or Austrian markets. Maerklin, as with many other companies has been putting an emphasis on modellers from Belgium, Netherlands and France. Eastern Europe has also been a battlefield between various manufacturers, seeking to increase their market shares as German sales dropped.

I would think it realistic to see some reeditions of previously released Swiss trains, likely either a Be/Ce 6/8 or Ae 6/6 model.
I would also expect a Re 4/4II or Re 4/4III in the cargo livery (without the DB Pantographs and with normal SBB handrails).
Another model with Swiss connections will be the Re 4/4Is of the Centralbahn AG, which have been hauling Charter trains in Germany for a few years.
With the release of the TEE Bavaria and Rheingold coach sets, I think that Maerklin will also release a Re 4/4I in TEE colours, followed by the same model in the green and red liveries.
I would also expect a reedition of the Re 4/4II TEE at some point and potentially, a model in Crossrail colours.
As far as new models, I would love to see a RBe 540 with an underbody SDS motor. 2009 marks 50 years since the RBe 4/4s went into service as well as will be the year where most of these trainsets will be taken out of service.

I would also like to see a Re 460 with 3 white/1 white and 3 white/2 red LED selection as well as a Re 4/4II with white LEDs.

New models of the Swiss international UIC coaches and diner would also be a welcome model to many collectors.

All of this remains supposition. Hopefully, people are getting their wishlists to their local distributors and to Maerklin, so that they can see what modellers want and not just what select insiders want to see as models. A list of distributors can be found at www.maerklin.com

Regards

Mike C

well, this one probably won't be coming out from marklin anytime, but it would be a really neat looking addition to any marklin collection or layout - its sort of an american crocodile.
UserPostedImage
its a milwaukee road EP-2 bipolar electric loco. they must have lost the catenary pantographs - they sat on top the cab just like the SBB crocs.

I thinks its a nice design, and one which hasn't been done in HO except for maybe some brass. Walthers ought to push for it! Its on their "home" railroad.
this one is located in the St Louis transportation museum.

Otherwise, I would be happy with some new paint schemes for the GG-1 and PA1's (a PRR PA1 would be nice, as long as they put the radio-phone antenna on the roof).
