Hi,

I spent the weekend at our summerhouse and as usual I've had my weathering material with me. Here is the first car weathered: a Swiss lowbed. In this work I have used acrylic for the first time, plus the good-old-friend Tamiya weathering kit.

I first took the model apart:

Black wash and some ... :

Enter Tamiya rust effect:

And finale after some sooth and flat clearcoat:

Interesting that I find weathering more fun as I do more and more.

That's the word I've had in mind when doing the work. Surely the paintwork could be better but the total impression I was after was to be "subtle".

Thank you all.

Hi Cem. Good job! Did you use brush or airbrush for softening the rust color?

Pietro hi,

I just used longer strokes (up-down) when applying the sooth to soften the rust. But let me tell you, it took a lot of strokes! biggrin

For the rust effect on the wheel caps and brake shoes, I used acrylic: apply a bit and spread it with a lot of water at some places.

I don't use airbrush, but if the need be I use spray.

Hi Cem,
That is some very nice work.
Thanks for sharing.

BTW Can you buy black wash or do you dilute your own?

Macca hi,

I usually mix my own black wash as I like to use a hint of yellow for more realistic effect. I used to use ink for it but now I use acrylic paint. I've never seen ready bottled black wash here in Turkey.
