Hello,
The smoke on my BR50 from the starter set 29821 does not work. When I turn on the smoke, the smoke generator gets hot like it is supposed to but no smoke. If I add a drop of Seuthe fluid on top of the center rod inside the smoke generator, it gets converted to smoke.
I have tried different quantities of smoke fluid in the generator but no luck. I have noticed that the center rod is a little bent and may be touching the side of the smoke generator. I have tried straightening it a little.
I don't know what the make and model of the smoke generator is since it was already in the loco when I bought it.
Thanks.

Greetings from Atlanta! I have had this with some of my smoke generators. I had to double check that it was actually in contact with the heating element.

They also seem to have gotten clogged sometimes. For this I let them soak with a full load of oil for half and hour and then started them up and they worked. I have been told they can be cleaned, and they are very delicate. I have never tried that. Good luck. J

Finally get to meet someone else from Atlanta on this forum.

I will try the soaking trick. I know that the contacts are ok since it is heating up correctly.

Some of the Seuthe kits come with a fine wire for clearing the smoke tube in the unit. I have several but have yet to have an occasion to use one.

I had to reply to this thread being in Atlanta too! I also let it soak but with the smoker turned on. Eventually the BR38 will smoke.

If you have not the cleaning wire, you can use the wires of electronic components: they have the same diameter.
