HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Christmas, as every year, means going through the Märklin (and not only) collection, hoping that the upcoming year will see that dream lay-out that I have been planning since some time. Fortunately, that date seems approaching. I am in a new home and have a perfect train room. Just the time to finish some minor work beforehand and I should be ready to start by February. I will keep you posted in the appropriate forum.
Meanwhile, I am "playing" around with the trains I would like to run. My lay-out will be Swiss in nature and I have collected a few consists. Here they are.
Era III, SBB Ae 3/5 - M3456, coach set M42385, coach M4138

I really like this locomotive that I purchased via e-bay (from a starter set). I also have a brown one that I converted to Digital. The coaches came also via e-bay.
Era III/IV, Seetalbahn, SBB De 6/6 – M37522, roco coaches 44730 and 44731

I got the coaches first then last year I found the locomotive on e-bay.
Here is a detail of the passage between the cars. Very well detailed.

Era IV, SBB Re 4/4 I M39420 followed by Liliput coaches (leichtstahlwagen) and M43914 cab control coach for push-pull action

The Liliput coaches (387414 -604 -714 -804 -914) are quite nice and detailed but need to have many details applied and I don’t know how reliable it would be to run them on a lay-out (I saw details fly off of other Liliput cars).
This is a detail of this nice locomotive

Era IV Schnellzug, SBB Ae 6/6 M28851.1 followed by Liliput coaches

Also a nice restaurant car

And a SBB Sleperette (maybe an era V, don’t know)

Era IV, BLS Ae 4/4 Hag 182 followed by Hag baggage car (465) leichtstahl coaches (441 and 451) and cab-control car (421)

The coaches and loco came from e-bay. They are a mix of DC and AC.
I really like this locomotive, one of my preferred ones. Here some detail

Era V, SBB-NS RAm I TEE – M39700

One of my recent purchases via e-bay. I did originally skip on this set but then decided to add it to my collection.
Era IV, Swiss Express, SBB Re 4/4 IV Hag 211 and Lilliput coaches 388984 -554 -754 and -885

A closer view of this nice loco
Era IV, TEE Bavaria, SBB Re 4/4 IV Trix 22148, coaches set “Bavaria” M43852 + Trix coaches 23423 and 23434

The loco is a Trix model that i will convert to M digital. Here is a close-up

A closer view of the dome car by Trix

Very nicely detailed interior. Notice the stairway to the upper level

Also this nice restaurant car by Trix

I will have to find the way of correcting the destination signs. Here is the one on the Bavaria set:
And this is on the Trix cars:
Era IV, TEE Gottardo, SBB RAe 1051, M 39540
The much maligned model by Marklin but, for me, a beautiful one. A detail on the very elegant front.
The quality of the detail is very good.
Era V, Eurocity, SBB Re 460 M3752 followed my M coaches 4365, 4368, 4369 and 42172

A nice panorama coach

Era V, IC double deck, SBB Re 460 M39602, Roco coaches 45461, 45460. 45462, 45470 and 45464

My problem with this set is that it is very long since the coaches are 1:87. I much rather prefer the shorter coaches and more of them.
Here is close-up of the restaurant coach

Era V, InterRegio, SBB Re 4/4 IV M3434 and Roco Coaches 44495, 44496, 45088

The loco had been part of my collection since several years. I recently got the coaches, I think this is a quite prototypical set in Switzerland today.
Era V, Zurich S-Bahn, Re 450 Hag 284, coaches from M set 28505, cab-control car Fleishman 65132

Rode this train in Zurich a few times this past summer, from the city to the airport. A detail of the engineer

Era V, Cisalpino set, M26544 + coach M41897

I believe Cisalpino ceased to exist and now SBB and FS-Trenitalia are organizing trains between Italy and Switzerland. But this train will remain operative on my lay-out!
Era V, SBB InterCity, M34615 + coaches set M42166 and cab-control car M42179

I managed to get the cab-control directly from a Swiss shop. It took some time but it was worth to complete the set

Finally, an Austrian set. I really like this locomotive, M3458

I don’t know if they are all prototypically correct but I still like them that way.
Enjoy!
