Yes... right! They seem the bell and, near the cabin, the pressure safety valve. All these particulars are black in the original 3003.

Nice to see these "old ladies" together.
I can see some differences in the Cab windows and the front handrails. What other differences are there between these two? |

Hi Ray, I'm not "expert" enough to tell you much.I think they are both from the late 50's to early 60's,both have telex and both have twin pickup shoes. On a different note I got the tender for the Br24 you put me onto, waiting for it to come thro' in the post. Ian.

First a question - what catalogue number has the pickup shoes? Second isn't it so that the undercarriage of this model is articulated? Third the old croc 3015 has got two pickup shoes 7175 and I would assume that it is due to two reasons. i) The engine itself is articulated and ii) the pickup shoes are short and therfore there is a need to have two in order to not get stuck for instance on points.

Hi Ian.
One difference between them should be the smoke generator preparation. 3047 can be fitted with 7226, 3027 should not.
Could also 3047 have telex couplers, and 3027 has not?

Ian, you're very welcome. I'm glad I could help.
What sort of trains will your "ponies" pull? I love to see mine with a rake of "thunderboxes" in tow. Sometimes I run them with rebuilt 6 wheel coaches, or light freight trains.
What about you? |

Hi Ray, Haven't thought that far ahead yet,but think I'll go with your suggestions.
Hi Stephen, You're 3003's are in very good condition, are they still original or have you converted them to digital.
Have a Merry Xmas. Ian.

Purchased a factory new 3050 Swiss Ae 6/6 electric loco from an Italian seller on Ebay. Old fashioned heavy M quality. Also purchased a factory new 3111 Belgian S 3/6 steamloco from a German seller on Ebay, loco looks okay but refuses to drive, apparently stuck because of prolonged storage, otherwise a good buy. |

Hi all, Couple of pictures of my latest e-bay purchase. Loco 3315 2-10-0. Quick question,it has a electronic reverse unit, thought it might run on digital but can't load it onto MS. Runs ok on analogue but does not have much turn of speed? Ian.

Ian, the 3315 is purely analog, unless it has been modifies with a decoder.
All 33xx seem to run more slowly than the 30xx or 31xx analog locos. I think it has to do with the electronic reversing circuit.
If you decide to convert it to digital remember to change the light bulbs. The 33xx locos have low voltage lamps. I always forget and blow them up when I convert them! |

Hi Stephen and Ray, Thanks,Ray I'm happy to run it on my analogue section,I'll try a light oiling, see if that helps,I was led to believe it spent alot of it's time sitting in it's box. Ian.

Hi all, Another purchase,Loco 36851 Cargo or at least thats what it was advertised as on e-bay. When it arrived it's only got 2 pantographs instead of 4. It registered itself on the MS as 482.It must be a basic model with a metal body and runs really well. The Loco cost me £46 Ian.

Ian, have a look at the running number. Is it a 481? If so, this is from a starter set 29523, not mentioned in Marklin databases but sold in supermarkets I believe. |

I'm really jealous with the number if loco's you guys have got, but let me embarrass myself by telling you what I've got (no photo's though - it's too cold in the garage at the moment!) 1x Class 50 Steam loco (Don't know the M* number but it's a 2.10.0 with a 8-wheeled coal tender and serial number 50 2551 - see below) 2x Class 24 Steam loco (8803) 1x Class 86 Tank loco (8896) 1x Class 03 Steam loco (88851) - pulls the Lorelei Express Passenger set (87351) 1x Class 42.09 Steam (88041) - pulls my version of the Long Henry (9 cars to date) 1x Class 58 Steam loco (88121) - pulls the other Lorelei Express Passenger set 1x Class V120 Diesel-pneumatic Compressed Air loco set (81430) My aim? To get the full Trostberg set - on eBay for UK£200 so it will be a while yet! |
