What are the options for using some ballast around the M tracks? I have seen quite a few good examples from members here through their pictures, but I have not seen the material in any shop or online before.

I bought some woodland scenics two different colors but both do not really match, and would need some weathering to fit in better.

Hi,

I have used aquarium sand. I'll try to find the right colour if you wish. They are cheap like 1 Euro per 250 grams (or more - in wieght that is).

Ah, that is what it is :) I noticed it on your old M track layout and some others around here but could not figure out exactly what it was.

Thanks Cem :)

I have used sand mixed with a little bit of medium ground black pepper.

Hi!

I guess it most depends on how you are manging your trackbed. If you use the M-track "as is" or rather said "Exposed", then I would go for Perz recommendation of sand + pepper. The other solution is to cover the sidings of the M-track more (in styrofoam etc) and also add ballast between the rails. I do the latter and found that Woodland Scenic Medium Buff works for the outside and Fine Buff between the rails.

This is the result: UserPostedImage
