Hi everybody,
I've recently bought the Marklin 37990 but as i put it on the track, firstly has been recognized by my Ecos as M4 then i put the address 71 to use the movement functions.
I noticed that running light were swithced on with very low intensity.
then intensity increased. I did some manouver with the platform and as i tried to move the loco nothing happened.
I cancelled from the loco's list but now it is not recognized.
I tried also to use it in analog but nothing.
Do you know what could be happened?
Regards
Marco[:(!]

Decoders defects come out in first moments of working... as in other electronic devices.
The fact that doesn't work even in analog mode makes me suspicious, it could be an electronic problem.
If I were you, since it is new, I would ask informations to the store... but let's see what other members think!

Never mind Marklin send it back to the store and get it changed or a refund.
From what Lutz says this is not a new model and if modified then will not be repaired free by Marklin and rightly so.

39970 is a TVT with two decoders: one mfx, one fx for the platform and the pantograph.

I presume this thread is about 39970 ...

Two dead decoders at the same time is very unlikely.
I once had a problem with the inductor between pickup shoe and PCB. It was a steamer and I could easily verify this by opening the tender.

With the TVT you may not even change traction tyres, therefore looking at the inductor could be difficult or impossible.

Try to run it with a different CS/MS (if possible), otherwise return it to the dealer.
Regards
Tom

I dont think a new Loco wqhich dies not run out the box should go back for repair. It should be changed by the dealer for one that works.
I feel sorry for you Marco and hope this can be sorted for you quickly.

Hi Guys/Girls,
I agree with Davemr. The cost for marklin tains is expensive. I think sending the train back for repairs is out of the question. I will attempt to Get a refund or have it replaced. If you want a second opinion, contact Tom@marklin.com or fax a letter of your problem to 801-489-1087.Tom is the wiz Specialist/Engineer for marklin.

<br />Marco,
I agree with Davemr. Its cost you allot of money to purchase this item in the first place. I don't think you should send it back for repairs. Get a refund or have it replaced. If you want a second opinion, contact Tom@marklin.com or fax a letter of your problem to 801-489-1087. Tom is the wiz specialist for marklin.

Well done Marco. If you have a good dealer then stick with him. Sending stuff to Marklin is OK if the model is about two years old but other than that who wants to wait ages for its return.
Also a good dealer will want to know if his customer has a problem as dealers that I know do not want to sell faulty locos as they like to keep customers coming back.
Enjoy your new loco when it arrives.
