Tom,

It's indeed a beautiful set, and I suppose that the coaches are at the correct 1:87 scale (303mm), which will add to the elegance of the set. However, don't you mind the fact that the loco's body is made of plastic? Wouldn't it be a much better investment if you purchased the coaches separatedly and ran this consist with any the fantastic Märklin models of the E10? There are at least three versions of it, all first-class models.
Best regards,
Armando García

Is this the set with auto-opening doors and lifting pantos?
check out http://maerklin-back-on-track.blogspot.com if you like to see how old Märklin locos are brought back into life! (in spanish by the moment)

@Armando:
No, I don't like plastic but this set has got so much. I will compare the loco to my Märklin E10.

Yes, so it is.

Either open the doors on the left side or the other, where the platform is.

Every van has got an own Decoder with the adress 3.
The functions:

Belongs to the loco: F1,2,5,6,8,9,10,12,13,14,15

F3 Doors on one side open/shut
F4 Doors on the other side open/shut
F7 Light inside the vans
F16 Conductor flute (only 2. Class van)
F17 Conductor saying "Everybody go inside" (only 2. Class van)
F18 Red light on

It's not a starter set, it's a train set (neither controller nor tracks included).

But it's a very special train set indeed.

Hello Tom.

I agree with you, it is not a starter set.
A lot of dealers called 41274 a digital starter set.

Congratulations.
When it arrives you can ask us: "Bitte einsteigen" und mitfahren. All on board and enjoy the journey.

regards.,
John

P.S.
For modellers who have not purchased a Roco loco before:
Because Roco models have a plastic body (very heavy metal blockframe) , they are very detailed, no difference to damage as metal bodies, more pullingpower and even more if desired by exchanging one of the none tyretraction axle with one that has, very smooth and quite running characteristics (even at high speed).

Most E-locos have interchangeable front skirts (without the coupling shaft), a silent slider (especially c-track), Interchangeable decoder plug (socket),
all locos have protoypical Pantographs, newer locos have led's, 99% of locos have markerlights (where applicable).

That's a nice set Tom. I can sort of make up a similar train with my Marklin 39120 E10.3 and coaches from the 29010 starter sets (I have 10 of them). I say sort of, because my train doesn't have the decoders and other fancy features.

Good to see that ESU are finally delivering the Ecos Radio Control. More incentive for me to upgrade my CS1 to v3.0.

This is a lovely set. Congratulations!
I've many Roco 3AC locomotives, and I don't notice any difference in running qualities.
I would like to own a similar set, but I should buy a modern CS instead of my 6021 with 4 functions... biggrin
