Hello Torbjörn,
strange, on the Märklin homepage on the product description of the CS2 it is mentioned, that no skilifter is needed between CS2 and 6015/6017 powered sections. In the Märklin document you are linking to the opposite is mentioned.
What is right??
on my layout I do not have skilifters and everything is working well.

Hi Stephan! That's exactly what I was referring to when I spoke about "contradiction" above. This document was just recently published in the Märklin FAQ (16th October), so I guess this list is what counts. http://www.maerklin.de/faq/post...p;Board=DigitalAllgemeinQuote:[size=1" face="Verdana" id="quote]quote:Originally posted by supermoee ... on my layout I do not have skilifters and everything is working well. ...
Yes, so it is clearly possible without problems. Maybe this is a trade-off between different views at Märklin (warranty issues plays a large part I guess)? As Tom says they probably just want to be on the safe side. But still, it's good that Märklin finally states how they think it should be done. /Torbjörn

Hi All,
How stringent is the requirement for separated masses of individual track sections ?
Chances for two sections of center rail being connected by a slider exactly on the partition line seem very low compared to chances of a complete train being parked on a partition line, thus making a connection between the two mass sections.
Best regards, Gregor

Hi, Gregor! Quote:[size=1" face="Verdana" id="quote]quote:Originally posted by Gregor <br />How stringent is the requirement for separated masses of individual track sections? M* take it serious. They say you got to use 6017 Booster if you're running on M track. Some rumours say you need it to avoid radio interference. Other rumours say you don't need it if you power-up CS2 and boosters at the same time. At least the loco will make a connection. A long tin-plate train will make a long connection (plastic coaches without light will only make very short connections (wheel by wheel)). Locomotives will make connections - and the Big Boy is long. The leaflets that come with Tams Boosters clearly states that you must not park trains on such a junction and that you shall make that junction at a location where trains drive swiftly. Long story short: I don't know, but I wouldn't put expensive hardware at any risk. |

There is much confusion and disinformation on this issue. Someone needs to clarify it. When I was considering buying a CS, I contaccted M tech support on this issue. I described my layout (all rails as one continuous mass with six booster segments) and they said that as long as I kept the mass feed to the CS separate from the rail system, I was ok. Granted I am using 6017-type (LDT) boosters, but they said this wasnot a problem. One thing to consider...if you use the S88 bus, the mass sections will be connected through the S88's regardless as to how you separate the rails. At any rate, I decided to stay with my Intellibox and my computer control, at least for the present. As to lifters, I do not use them and have had no problems. |

I think that rumuor came from me. It was an educated guess, no inside information.
