Thanks Lutz for the pictures and link. Pity the poor guys who lost a wheel off their MRR module (Pictures 1 & 2 in Lutz's link).

Reading the manual, I noticed that changing traction tire is getting more troublesome.

Looks so nice and highly detailed !The rods seem to be marvelously reproduced.
Looking at the pictures, i'm wondering why should I spend 1800 E into hand-crafted models !

( I'm just afraid of one thing : are the smoke deflectors metal [^] or...plastic [V] ?)

I've seen 39050 goes for 500 EUR plus over the past year..

I hope I'm not poking on a hornet's nest here;
but Marklin could have offered these insider models themselves to "outsider" clubs at slight premium and pocketed the extra profit themselves.

With the advent of eBay, I don't think there is anything anyone could do to control the "exclusivity" of an item anyway..

This auction is just an example on how people can still make money off Marklin - though not into Marklin's own pocket.
Now collecting C-Sine models.

The person that sold the loco paid for it - and paid the membership dues to get the order form. Märklin got their share.

Rumours say that insider models are selling around 20,000 copies. Märklin got their share.
The outsider model will follow - maybe as CBE or similar where you pay the "premium" to get a wooden box.

Tom

Hi Tom,
What I mean is that it's an extra 36 Euros that Marklin won't get a share. That seemingly modest amount is probably already around 30-40% of their profit margin on the model.

I'm not one to pay premiums, but some people will.

I'll be waiting for an outsider's version, but hopefully it won't going to be the final CBE.

I bought one of these. The wooden display is currently still sitting in its box, as I have no use for it. Also cost me a significant "premium" in shipping thanks to the huge box - with the lok only taking less than a quarter of the space.

Now collecting C-Sine models.

Where is the 5000 coming from?

The ICE-S (39710) was limited to 6000 exemplars - and they made a lottery because they had many more orders.
The BR 39 will be produced according to the orders they get.

I don't know if that's 2,000 or 20,000.

There are not many figures available.

Here is one: Märklin Magazin has 55,977 subscribers. So this is the upper limit for the German speaking Insider Club Members.

BR 10 came back, BR 45 came back, BR 05 streamlined came back.

Senator had two different liveries during his short life - so I guess we'll see that back in a while, too.

I don't know how much they'll have to change to produce a non-streamlined 05 001 or 002. It wouldn't surprise me to see that in 2010 or '11.

Also Tom, Big Boy came back, at least 2 or 3 times (if you count the weathered version).

Me too biggrin

With Marklin continue to hover around just about making minimal profitability - they're going to need solid, strong sellers with minimal or little investments.

I think out of all the Insider models they released in the past 10 years;
this model is most likely to be the most successful if it will ever released as a regular production.

Might even be the first model that I will ever preorder...
..might even get two biggrin

I emailed Station500 (Matthias) as to whether he would have some available for purchase. Here is his reply:

"I have a lot in backorder, but actually I can not say whether I have some free.....I´m sorry."

Ha...got my grubby little mits on one.It should be here on Monday or so.

I did have a look at one yesterday.Very very nice loco. The sound is fantastic, typical offbeat 3cylinder sound.Goes in and out of sink....lovely.I had a look at the BR23 with sound as well.Has a lovely hornsound with echo.Pity they couldnt do the echo on the BR39.

I see that on both BR23 and BR39 the wheels are painted red on the ridge as well. The BR39 hasnt got it on the tender though.BR23 has.Lots of detail on both locos, both brilliantly made.

Ive got the BR23 on order.Should be here soon as well.

Hi Riekus I am glad to have been able to get you a class 39, however your price is incorrect Rand's and not Euro's. If you want your Marklin locomotives just after release such as the class 23 you now know where to place your future orders. Steve
