With my return to MRR, and my being a cinema aficionado, I have found a new joy: trainspotting in the movies. I am particularly interested in films (that can stand on their own merit) that feature the locomotives discussed in this thread.
Two recent sightings come to mind: In the original Manchurian Candidate (1962), when Frank Sinatra's character takes a train trip, the train is clearly pulled by a GG-1. The opening & closing scenes of Bad Day At Black Rock (1955) feature magnificent widescreen colour footage of a Southern Pacific F7-pulled train.
Any recommendations? Sorry if this is slightly off-topic! |

Thanks for a great thread. The AT&SF F7 was my first US lok and still my favorite. I have been looking around for a 37622 boxed set with no luck. (I have seen an unboxed set) For those who follow the 37622, what has been the recent market prices? Hi Thomas, only saw it now - thus sorry for answering late ... [:I] Nikos is right with today's €300-400 price tags for brand-new-in-the-box #37622 combos. On the other hand if you can wait let's guess prices will go down dramatically when the crisis reaches its peak and (also) marklins in all conditions will flood the bay. Alas. Or thank God. Depends on your role in the market ... Have a nice day, John |

I like that Vesuvius car (refractories - essentially "fire brick" for the metals industries) - Swissvale PA is a section of Pittsburgh - and home of the Battleship! http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05040/454722-56.stmIf any one goes there - the neighborhood is a little rough, but there's much worse around Pittsburgh. The subs are worth the trip. Get the Super Battleship. A buck or two more - same size but more and better meat. I'll have to get that car along with that version of the GG-1, as I don't want the whole set. The GG-1 was meant to be a passenger loco, and I have been accumulating some of the Walthers's cars for two first two I have (the black one and the tuscan red one). At the time the Vesuvius box car would have been used, if there really was one - according to the company's history on its website, they would have been making cast clay crucibles probably for foundries. Now they are very big in all sorts of refractory materials for the metals industries (and probably anywhere else where high temperature is used to do soemthing).

It is rare, I have the ABA Santa Fe 3367 (converted to digital using an esu loksound) and the Rio Grande Version of the F7 and I have never had such a problem. I run on M, K and now C track and no problem at all. May be it is because my models use a bar instead of the normal coupling?. I also just got the ALCO P1 Southern and it runs just like a dream. Love the American prototypes from Marklin. I just would like to see some more variation in liveries. There are soo many U.S. roads (my wish is an Erie Lackawanna Pa-1) maroon and grey with yellow accents, whats not to love? Well thats a great frieght car set with very nice pics. I would like to get that set plus the new one coming out but I don't know if I can justify the cost.
thanks |

I would love to have at least one US train in my collection. However, i use a DC system with digital trix control, most of my stuff are trix with some marklin wagons with DC wheels. Where could I have a look to buy some US stuff, like an F7 or something similar with 5-6 US freight wagons?? |

I think that most American prototype Marklin models were offered in DC by Trix and would probably be fairly easy to find due to the fact that many U.S. companies make DC American prototype. In the U.S. one can find the same models as the Trix offerings much cheaper (with less quality)so Trix models don't sell as quickly. This is only my observation in my area and this might be very different where you are. Oh, and if your looking for F7's I would suggest Athearn possably..not the best but they are reliable and not super expensive and i think they come DCC equipped. Trix might not offer an F7 due to being originally tooled only as a three rail Marklin model. |

Hi George, On Ebay, JohnvanDamme is offering the Trix 2-car sets for euro 169.99 (24900, brown, all UP) and 189.99 (24902, multicoloured, multi-roadname); the Santa Fe threesome (24913) are 29,99. Individual cars are on offer as well, but at euro 14.99 apiece they are much more expensive. I have bought multiple items from this seller, very satisfactory. Occasionally, the Trix PA's surface on Ebay for ridiculous prices (like about euro 130 for the pair). Jeroen |

Does the 22590 have DCC in it ? Is it a decoder model?
