I try to count my locos but they are in different rooms etc. I have about 70, at least 65 are Märklin. My list will be presnted later. I can see that a lot of you have got nice collections. This is interesting and I bring a result from a german MRR: (I guess it would not be very different here) <u>there are 574 answers:</u> 3 persons (0,5 %) have got ....... 0 locos 65 persons (11,3 %) have got .. 1-10 locos 232 persons (40,4 %) have got 11-50 locos 117 persons (20,4 %) have got 51-100 locos 98 persons (17,1 %) have got 101-200 locos 24 persons (4,2 %) have got. 201-300 locos 22 persons (3,8 %) have got . 301-500 locos 6 persons (1,1 %) have got.. 501-750 locos 2 persons (0,4 %) have got 751-1000 locos 5 persons (0,9 %) have got more than 1000 locos The middle (52,2 %) have got appr. 50 locos. I started 50 years ago with BR 89 and V200:   and 2 weeks ago I got: 39410 E41 and 39411 BR 141. I wait now for 37097 BR 85 and 39182 BR 218 to come.  |

That is a lot of percentage for the average. Having 1000 locos, you need a dust, nuclear, humidity free vault to house them all. I spent a couple of days to find my locs, count and do the list.

I think I've got about 6 of BR 119, Br 19, 1 of them is an Austrian. (3337 = BR 1118 and 1 Roco BR 1018). However there is a problem of mixing Märklin with roco locos purely when you do a double heading. You can add the same decoder (ESU) but the gears are different, so they do have different running characteristics. Especially with my layout having 2 of the 1020's would be the right thing to do. (Arlberg, Brenner Pass) I had 2 194's both with sound and converted but unfortunatley 1 was stolen. I think, in 12 month time there will be more Märklin stuff for sale (financial crisis) and I'll get some more of the missing link. John |

Very nice locomotive, and a great puller, I think I have gone 50 axles.
I have the 85010 with a starter set, and cannot run it with kinematic couplings on thunderboxes. It creates a derailment over R1 curves. It might be the limited ability of the loco coupling to go sideways.
No problem with any other rolling stock.
I would be interested to hear if you have a similar problem.

I am waiting for my BR 85, 37097. And I have another BR 85, 37095. In some of the german small and steep railroads they also had a Br 75 to push the wagons. This is my first Steamer with full sound. I made these videos to document it. Here's the thing, while the "chuff chuff" sounds are quite loud, the whistle is not so much. I would have expected it the other way round. Has anyone else noticed this? |

Hi Ray. The loco is very nice (that is Maerklin's worthiness ) but also your videos are great! In particular in the first one it seems you recorded the sound with stereophonic effect. This is much realistic and not common in youtube! Pietro

Ray, 37097 came with MFX decoder - you should be able to edit the sound option on it - more specifically lower the volume of the "chuff chuff". Easily done through CS, but I'm not sure how to do it with a 6021. On my 37848 it was the either way around - whistle's loud. "chuff chuff" barely audible..... mucked around with the sound settings, now it's more balanced. Congrats on your new lok. |

Thanks, Tim. I don't think I can do it with the 6021. According to the instructions I can change the volume, but for all the sound, not the individual effects.
Never mind, it's not a big deal. (Actually the chuff-chuff gets a bit annoying after a while. I'll probably use it more with the sound off than on.) |

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

I have 126 Marklin locomotives... all Z scale. Actually, number 126 came in just this week. I have been actively collecting and running Marklin Z since 1985. It is amazing how a collection can build up. I also have a large number of other Z locos from a variety of manufacturers (American Z Line, Swiss Z Line, Micro-Trains, FR and others).
