Nice one Davy!
The 141 in green is one of my favourites. I have an old 3037, but I am tempted by this new version!

My first contribution to this never ending thread;
Long story short, I've been bitten by the steamer bug last year, but couldn't get around to get any up to recently.
Here are my first two new ladies, which caused me some difficulty with my FD
..
First, one of Marklin's famous classic decapods;
BR 50 Era III version (37848)
..and an express "standard";
BR 01 Era II version (39011)
A fantastic smooth running model with soft drive. The sound effects from this machine are just fantastic!
Ok, my first problem;
I haven't got any Era II or III passenger coaches (got plenty of Era III freights though), since most of my passenger stock are Era IV-V. So until funding permits, the 39011 is pulling my TEE consist, taking turns with my 103.
My second problem;
now I desperately want more steamer models
.. Be it BR 44, 45, 01.10, 18.3, 23, 24, etc..
That is in addition to my Era IV-V wishlist, of course.
Now collecting C-Sine models.

You're right, unfortunately..
I've also just taken delivery of a BR 86 from starter set 29533 - won from our local auction site (trademe.co.nz). Haven't taken any pic of it yet.
Ok, this one is not in the same league of my class 01 and 50. 60760 decoder, olde style telex, plastic body, no smoke stacker, and considerably noisier than my other 5-pole loks (with plastic body and thin layer of paper - it's really got no proper cover over the rotor).
But I absolutely love it! I think it's a great hobby model..

Glad to see you're enjoying your steamers, Tim.
My Br86 is a much older model with a delta decoder, but I don't find it particularly noisy. Try putting a drop of oil on each motor bearing. It can make a big difference. No more than one drop though!

TimR, the Hapag-Lloyd set 42229 fits perfectly with the 01 128, since its 189 euros, you're looking at probably paying 450 New Zealand Dollards

Hi Gert-Jan,
I guess it might have to do with the specific charm of Era 1 models and that time.
I myself started with a genuine Era 4
Einheitslokomotive
Class 50
in 1982 (Mkl. 3084)...
http://www.osterthun.com/WRF/M3084.JPG
... and ended up in Era 1 mostly Brawa stock!

I actually am amazed by your collection and the pictures on your website, Frits
Awesome, Wunderbar, Schitterend !!!
I remember the BR50 'kabinetender' from my late seventies childhood as being one of my favorites...for the specific tender of course.
But it is a fact, I am trying to keep some focus on pre-post WWII era. Reason is that this is the stuff you can see the most in musea like Bochum-Dalhausen, Neuenmarkt, Wolstyn etc. I guess that is why it attracs me most AND I want spend money on another hobby too [:(]
The Würtemberger K class is special for me, as it meant the restart of my hobby after 15 years...Didn't have a clue about ERA's and just fell in love with it seeing it on the 2000/2001 catalogue I incidently bought while shopping. Secondly came the S3/6 very soon, for the same reason...purely 'looks'
Mosty era III DB.

Gert-Jan, graag gedaan (=you're welcome).
I fell for the kab-tender of the 3084 as well, but in 1984, when the wrt. T 5 (#3312) was released as the first Era 1 loco that (after the 'late' S 3/6) finally started a new Märklin Era 1 line, I was converted. And having been at the Märklin Seminar where the wrt.C (3511) which was to be released in a couple of weeks, ran its maiden trip before our eyes, it only inspired me the more. And yep, the K was a must have ever since.
None the less I keep a firm eye on the German Einheits- and Neubau-Steamers as well. German steamers just have this particular, fantabulous and awesome flair of technique and elegance that inspires without end.
Groet (=regards)

Thanks for all those photos of great models.
Yes, I would love to own a K class, but I need it to be era III and with sound. Which I don't think is available yet.

Just taken delivery of a Mehano TGV. Amazon UK are currently selling them off with a loop of two rail track and controller for £28, down from £70. Plastic, made in China. So you'd expect cheap nastiness right?
Wrong
It is a very smooth, silent runner. The power car has a central motor powering all four axles and feels as though it will handle a full 10-car train (if I manage to track down the add-on packs - the set has the power cars and the two end coaches). The chassis on the powered car is metal, so it weighs around the same as a 3042 or similar Marklin loco. No traction tyres are fitted, but it doesn't seem to need them. Standard of paintwork is very high considering what I paid, the fit of parts is also good.
My only negatives for this model are the plastic dummy pantographs (which look ok, but obviously don't work) and the lack of interiors. However, considering the price I'm quite happy to spend a bit more on some Hornby Eurostar interior mouldings and modify them to fit. I'm sure someone makes a working TGV-type pantograph too. There are no headlights either, but come on - this thing cost less than a round in some bars!
It will be getting a 3 rail digital conversion when I find a suitable decoder, along with headlights and some inter-coach wiring to allow one slider to feed both power cars. The basic model is superb with a very fine drive unit and a good standard of construction, making some upgrades very worthwhile.
Matt from Wales.

Hi Gert-Jan,
I guess it might have to do with the specific charm of Era 1 models and that time.
I myself started with a genuine Era 4
Einheitslokomotive
Class 50
in 1982 (Mkl. 3084)...
http://www.osterthun.com/WRF/M3084.JPG
... and ended up in Era 1 mostly Brawa stock!

(Principal issue about how many? Too many)
I also love thet Brawa Era 1/2 stuff stuff !!
Started down the Era 1/2 stuff with Marklin 37292/37059 and 3611.

My Kittel has arrived! This makes 63.
The detail is very good, and I love watching the tiny valve gear going back and forth as it goes around the track.

The Kittel has been on my wish list for some time too. Fascinating little things.
I wish British manufacturers would offer more Epoch 1 stock. At the moment there is nothing of note available ready to run. I do wonder if the fact that German companies tended to buy their locos from a standard design (meaning that with careful tooling design you can model multiple Epoch 1 companies, then through to DB days assuming the loco survived that long) has something to do with making European manufacturers keener to produce early locos.

Just the two headlights (LED) at each end. No rear marker lights, no interior lighting. I'm sure someone out there will be brave enough to fit interior lights (...but not me).

Laffe,
When this little corner is finished it will have quite a few people around
The funicular cable car + the little station is for setting down holidaymakers for a week or two on the farm or going up on the cable car and spending a few days in the refurbished Castle and unfortunatly the "casino".
the bus will have people departing and arriving and small suitcases will be on the roofrack.
Nothing tooo much, just enough to give a little more atmosphare.
This brings back memory, mainly being used as a post + passengerbus (yellow + black) in rural Austria.

Thanks Stephen, Ray.
Here is another electric Loco: ÖBB 1100.102, original 2 rail, added roco 4 pin electrical coupling on 1 end to attach carriage with pickupshoe.
It has a rubberbelt that connects the drive.
exchanged it with an ESU decoder
This is how the loco looks after it has been taken out of the deep freezer. just joking
This looks cold but effective. Photo manipulated
There are some more great Austrian steamers out there (Rh 310, 2' 6' 4')
