Does anybody know when Maerklin will release the info on the Fall New Items for 2025?

Regards

Mike,

I read in another post, September 18 just ahead of the IMA.

On the inside back-cover of the 03-2025 Märklin Magazine is a tarpaulin covered model due to be announced.
The model seems to be very long and I cannot guess what it is.

Hi Alan,
Actually I don't know what I am talking about.
I thought I saw it in the 04-2025 English version (which I have thrown away).
Now the German version has arrived, and it is not in there either.

According to some on Stummiforum, some Eurodual models are coming, as hinted at by Märklin (links now ative)
38900 Eurodual BR 2159 (DB AG)
38901 Euro9000? BR 2019 (Rail Force One)
ThumpUp
and another possibility
39587 BR 181 SEL

And of course, no guarantees, and we will know more tomorrow

Unfortunately Australia does not count in the marketing stakes for Märklin.
I cannot justify staying up till 10pm at night (my time) to view this video.
I will see it tomorrow, 19/09/2025. I don't think it will have altered much ha ha.

It is not a joke, just the normal price for new items like that.

Better term a pyramid scheme, like earlier G 2000 and C66....

Its too much of the same thing on the market and prices higher then Sudexpress Mellow

Of course, the model comes with leash lights and motor-driven pantographs maybe impressive?

I already has Green Cargo from "Sudexpress" (there are many out there not sold) and it will be enough that's one thing for sure!

Nothing was mentioned, so mSD3.5 was born because of Eurodual?

Strange, but perhaps they have delayed it.?
Nothing in the eurodual should require anything new?. The dual power BR 249/249 works fine on the current mSD3. The dual sound works quite nicely.

The Eurodual from Märklin has a proper metal upper body. Cool (according to the Märklin description)
In comparison, the model from Sudexpress has a plastic clip on body, and that's the reason I have not bought one from them.
And I see some premium version models from Sudexpress have an RRP up to 558€, so I think the price from Märklin is competitive, especially for those who prefer a metal upper body.

The question is what it had to compromise on, since there’s hardly any memory left.

Märklin is five years late again and it will die out quickly like the G 2000 and C66 too many in circulation.

The combined motor sounds from the 248/249 are surprisingly only around 28 MBit, so plenty of space left for other sounds. But then, on a decoder with more space, they can use better quality audio files. But generally, the sounds from an electric locomotive are quite small. E.g. I fitted the RC6 project onto an old 32MBit decoder, just removed a few of the "extra" sounds.

Unfortunately, the Eurodual has a long delivery time... 2027? But then again, Sudexpress also had very long delivery times on some of their models.

Yes, then they have time to adjust the price...

The only thing I’m considering buying this year, after looking into it, is the 47431 Laads 800B.

True, but also true that some like myself be waited in any case for the Märklin model.

Hello All,

I today attended this event in G¨öpingen. Quite frankly a disappointment. Not to mention the absolute absence of any language besides German. Of course over 90% of attendants are expected to be German, but an occasional wink to us non-German speaking fanatics would have been nice.

The overall opinion of mine is that Marklin and others were only interested in getting rid of excess stocks, not in their new products. A few examples I noticed:

1.- Marklin did not have available a single product announced for September, namely the DHG 500 loko in fictitious V61 DB livery, and sound digital effects. But loads of the same model but in Startup editions.
2.- The Diesel Railcar is only available in blue DB, not in red, and reduced 100 euros. Most certainly not an opportunity for Attendats, but a slow selling version.
3.- Roco had a small stand but only 4 3-Rail models ( 3 Eloks and 1 steam). A ton of other lokos in 2 rails DC. Not the place for that IMHO.
4.- Brawa has some nicely prized lokos but of very few models, obviously also those that are slow selling.
5.- ESU had interesting lokos. Their DHG500 which are top of the line, were out for 200 euros only. But limited to cash only purchases. Really? In 2025? ANd the nearest ATM was in town, so the whole process would have meant more than an hour I would have lost more than an hour bouncing around in a shuttle bus.
6.- Very little in serious second hand options by a few dealers who propose junk at steep prices.

Overall, IMHO, not what a trade fair should bring at all. If I compare it with my visit ti Friedichshaffen for the Ham Radio Fest ( another of my vices), the distance in courting the customer and visitor are very much obvious.

Just my 2 cents
Santiago

AFAIK IMAs have never been about buying, more about showing stuff. At least the ones in Cologne I attended years ago.

And in Germany electronic payments are less widespread than elsewhere, they still use more cash for purchases, it is a cultural thing. I bought my Bigboy in Koblenz for a lot of cash too, that I had to get from an ATM. Sometimes it is annoying but I also like the spirit of not being dependent as much on technology, that can be easily tracked or shut down by others.

If you want to buy new/2nd hand MRR stuff this one is the largest fair I ever went to: https://www.modelspoorbeurs.nl/

They maybe should have been proactive with a EURO DuFour and not come last?

Something more normal that fits most model railway enthusiast layout.

yes, it definitely was a disappointment that ESU only did accept Cash, but I think they were almost the only one not accepting a Debit or a Credit card. A friend of mine also had to ‚travel‘ to the nearest ATM. BTW paying electronically has become much more popular since covid and in particular in the last two years.

The IMA never was the place for buying 2nd hand stuff. Therefore you need to visit Dortmund or one of the local Modelbahnbörse on Sunday‘s.

kind regards
Jörg

PS: On the other hand the price of 200€ for the small KG230 locomotive with tons of features was really competitive.

The broken nose is really difficult for me. It's not a TU or TTU; but Marklin did a TU back in the nineties and it would be very easy for them to make another from this tooling...

Preferably a TTU - the TU can't run by itself anyway. Actually, preferably neither - the last thing my bank balance needs is a TRIX Class 22.
