I will venture a prediction. The fall new items will follow the current Marlin strategy; re-releases of previous models at escalated prices.

You're probably right, but I would rather look at it as a new opportunity to get a missed model, especially as it often comes in a different livery or version.

Sometimes Marklin surprises us and actually gives us a whole new tooling for Summer or Fall new items.

I was expecting a 6 coach Gottardo Set this year as 2011 marks 50 Years since the TEE Gottardo went into service (1961-2011). This model could still possibly come as a Fall New Item. Maerklin's Summer Items included individually packaged items from Start Sets as well as weathered models of previously released models. Could we be looking at more weathered SBB Loks (red or cargo Re 6/6)?

If Maerklin wants more money out of my ever shrinking pocket book, they should consider the following suggestions (mainly Swiss) (THESE ARE NOT OFFICIAL AND ARE SIMPLY MY SUGGESTIONS FOR WAYS MAERKLIN CAN GET MORE $ OUT OF MY WALLET):

Red Ae 6/6 with modernized wipers (like 37360)

Red Re 6/6 (11605-11613) (Era V) for IC/EC trains (1995-2002) and freight trains since 2002

Red Re 4/4III (11351-11371) (*some models with rectangular headlights)

1:87 SBB Green Lightsteel coach 2nd Class with blinking end of train light (Era III/IV)

1:100 SBB Am Eurofima EC (like 4266) with correct undercarriage (w/o SNCF markings)

1:100 FS Eurofima Set (like 41893) but in original orange livery with Television FS logo

1:100 DB Apmz TEE Rheingold with taillights (to finally complete 42990 Set)

1:100 DB WRmz TEE Helvetia (to complete 42991 Set)

1:100 DB Bimz ICE colours to supplement 43304 Set

1:93 FS Coaches (supplement to Trix 23414 Riviera Express Set) (Era III/IV)

Regards

Hello all,

You can find the first "Fall new items 2011" on the Märklin-website: "Fall 2011". There will follow more models, like the Christmas-wagon, a new BR 01 150 and the Schiebewandwagen "Märklin Technik Erfahren" (see: "3rail Forum"). Maybe there will also follow some updates or apps for the CS-2, Android-phones and the iPad.

I would say the class 41 is a variation on the class 42, so more of the same models with different liveries, which is not a bad thing as Ray points out.

I snapped up a 37437 (1960s with silver roof and grey undercarriage) a few months back from Johnvandamme for an amazing price. It looks really nice with my early 1970s LS Models SBB compartment coaches. Just waiting for the WRm diner to complete the consist. All that is missing is the "Falschfahrlicht", the red light underneath the top light that was present on the "Canton" loks until the 1980s. I did find one photo in "Die Gotthardbahn" (1968 and 1971 editions) showing a "Canton" Lok without this light, but I do not which lok (of the 25) that was and why the light is missing. I seem to recall having also seen a photo of a "City" Lok (11426-11520) with the extra light, so they may have been testing at some point. Either way, the lok is still nice and I now have two "Canton" Loks (3638 and 37437) and four "City" Loks (3337, 37366, 39361 and 29850.1) in my collection along with the 2010 37360 Cargo Ae 610.

Leading 0s are significant with class numbers. 042 is the post-'68 class number for class 41 oil (pre-'68 class number), so it's the same loco just with a different number. Many people collect era III and will have to go for this MHI model (not all dealers have it and discounts are smaller).

No "must haves" for me, so the autumn news are good news for my overstretched train budget. Wink

No SDS locos amongst the Fall New Items. Even the 01 150 (#39017) comes with a "normal" motor with bell-shaped armature instead of the SDS.
I may be mistaken, but I think this is the first non-Sine loco that comes with a 39xxx number (while there are a few 37xxx locos with SDS or compact C sine motor).

What do you think, Tom? Supply problems with the SDS, or just a deliberate move from Marklin away from the expensive Sine technology?

Well, I was waiting for an era III class 41. So that's one I like.
Maybe I will go for the new BR 01 150 too.

We see no new SDS locos, even the new BR 01 150 has a bell-shaped motor, while the other BR 01's have SDS motors.
It is more economic to use those motors for Trix and Märklin was said by Pluta in the past.

I am quite interesting in 39017 if the price is right.

The 39017 will not delivery until next year.

I dunno, no inside information here, neither new information.
There were some SDS locos amongst the 2011 toy fair new items, but this could be different for 2012 toy fair new items. We'll know in five months time.

Yes I do know that, but must admit I was being a bit lazy in not putting the leading '0' in my post.

I have to admit it was a nice change of pace to open a catalogue, and instead of filling out an order form I was able to glance at the layout and all the items I'd want running laps BigGrin

All the Swiss stuff came in a month or two ago, with the exception of the 37323 set which is en route. No more new Marklin purchases for me this year except the SBB Cargo wood transport set, and the 48026 Cargo boxcar set.

The mouse train is cool though!

Hi All,
They got me with the era III version of the 41 and the tank car set, I've put them in my Lokshop cart (but that doesn't mean I've bought them yet) Wink .
I'm sorry to see another former SDS Lok being refitted with older technology , even tho the few, bell shaped armature with flywheel, Loks I have all run really well ! so I'm glad I splashed out and bought 39013 three years ago, and to support the rebuild.
I have to respect Marklin for doing what is best tho for the company long term, SDS Loks may become quite collectable ??

Cheers

Glen
