Hi gang Cool

I have signals 74371 and 74391. I am working with the decoder M84 and the CS3 60226. I have no configuration problems with the 60226, the M84, and the 74391.

The 74380 is really giving me a hard time in the configuration.

The 74380 being the advanced signal of a 74391, is there something special to do in the cs3 to couple the 2 signals?

Because in the manual of the M84, I have seen that the 74380 unit will connect to the M84 pin related to the appropriate 74391 connection, I am a bit lost, especially that I have things going on that I don't understand in the cs3 with the addresses of the articles and the addresses of the decoders.

Thank you for your advices

I would also like to know the solution. I only currently have a 76XXX signal with integral decoder.

Can't help you with the signals but perhaps with the addresses. If the items are mfx the CS3 will assign an address that is unique to the article. Most mfx items allow you to choose either manually setting the address or allowing the CS3 to do it. On switches for example you can either set the address manually or not. I prefer to manually set them. I don't know whether the article addresses and the loco addresses can conflict. It is possible to assign the same address to two articles. As an example you can have two switches on a siding operate in parallel by assigning them the same address.

Perhaps Modeltrainfunguy on Youtube explains it. I have seen his videos. I think he has one on installing signals on the CS3 in tandem, mfx, as well as dcc using the dip switches on them and the M84.

Model train fun videos are the best. He really goes through great lengths to make his presentations understandable. I find myself going to them repeated times when I have forgotten the instructions. One of the few things I subscribe to.

In this video, the main thing is missing: the configuration of the 2 signals 74491 and 74480 in the cs3. If someone could inform us how to do it, that would be great.

Thank you to all

Do they have decoders in them? Otherwise they can not communicate directly with the CS3. The M84 slot that they are wired to is how the CS3 communicates with them. Similar to the uncoupler track. It has a solenoid which is activated by the M84. It is possible to connect the activation with the icon on the CS3 screen so that touching the icon activates the uncoupler track.
