Dear Märklin Friends,
I do hope that this post isn't out of topic, but I do need really some help. Many years ago I've purchased in the years the Hielscher's Wuppertal Schwebebahn Modell. I do enjoy it a lot in my Märklin H0 Layout. Unfortunately since many years Hielscher' Shop and Fabric is totally closed and you can't find anymore spare parts. I do need new rubber bands to make the mechanism working right again. You have here some pictures. I hop that somebody who still has this marvellous model can help me.
Thank you so so so much
Best regards
Stefano

It looks like something that might be available on amazon or similar. A quick search on 'rubber band' yields some candidates. What is the specs of the bands you need (diameter, thickness, ...) and how much tolerance is there on these specs?

In a 2025 post a Stummiforum member mentioned that the "Wuppertal Achse" H0 scale modeling association deals with Hielscher "Schwebebahn" models, among other things. Their contact page:

Slightly off topic (sorry), but just on the evening of the day before yesterday the historic "Kaiserwagen" of the actual Wuppertaler Schwebebahn has successfully completed its first test runs after many years of reconstruction and renovation. https://www1.wdr.de/nach...n-faehrt-wieder-104.html

Happy Sunday, dear DasBert,
The cross-section is circular, and the length of the broken belt is 9.49 cm, while the diameter is 2.99 cm. The cross-section is 0.5 mm.
Thank you very much!
Regards
Stefano

That is not a rubber band but an O-ring. Rubber bands are flat and stretch. O-rings are round and have little stretch. In America a good hardware store will have an assortment of them. Not sure about outside.

As mentioned, it seems to be an o-ring (not a rubber band). The dimensions you provided indicate a 0.5x30mm size.

Searching on eBay for those dimensions kept producing o-rings/gaskets for watches -- that may provide the right size for your needs. I'd recommend including "watch o-ring gasket 0.5x30 mm" when searching.

Good luck!

Pat
