Hello Everyone,

My grandpa had this wagon but choose to paint it.
The paintjob looked quite bad and now I am trying to restore the wagon.
Anyone tips for removing the paint, I try to use white spirit and a sharp scraper which works a bit.

The white spirit isnt doing alot, I believe it is Revell paint he used.
Anyone an idea if there might be something else to help solve the paint?

You have to be careful, any solvent that will soften and remove the paint may also damage the plastic. Going to be trial and error I think

I tried oven cleaner on the recommendation of a very experienced model builder. It did lift the paint, but and factory paint underneath can also ne affected if it is on for too long.

A commercial product that I have used is Deluxe Materials' "Strip Magic". I used it to strip Märklin coaches down to the plastic base. You use isopropyl alcohol to neutralise it, so if you are careful, you can use it to just strip off a top layer of paint.

Car brake fluid dot 3 or 4 works well. (not dot 5 which is silicone based).
Dip the plastic part (not clear plastic parts) to fluid and check the situation every hour. Process can take several hours.
Cleaning with hand warm water and a soft brush.

Cheers
